In 2016, the GOP invented a ‘tradition’ that the sitting president wouldn’t appoint a Supreme Court Justice during his last year in office. And used that to steal a seat on the bench.

I think to these right wingers, Americans who don’t agree with them don’t count as Americans in the first place. In their minds white lefties, POC, PWD, LGBTQIA+ people, etc aren’t real Americans and if we get screwed over most of them will be happy. They don’t care about the rule of law, they don’t care about rights, they only care about their guy getting away with all this stuff so he can be re-elected and punish all of us.

I have no doubt about that. They spent decades thinking a majority of Americans were on the pro-life side of the Abortion issue and only realized they were the minority when red states left the vote up to the people and they voted to keep abortion legal.
Conservatives have always been good at tricking themselves into thinking they are the majority, while also screwing over people's rights because they know they actually aren't.

Kinda cute taht Cruz is acting so pissed on Trump’s behalf, when he’s GOT to be praying to God that someone, anyone, takes Trump out of the picture so that he might have a political future.
Richard Nixon... although the only reason he wasn't indicted, was because he resigned and became a former president. So, there are precedents.

But there really aren’t. And that’s specifically because Nixon resigned. There are a lot of people who think he would’ve been pardoned, just because Ford pardoned so many others.
They’ve never really been held accountable before, that’s part of why they are so shocked and scared. But part of the reason this is so brazen is because they haven’t been held accountable. I’m glad it’s finally happening. We need to show these assholes there are limits to how much they can fuck around and that no, presidents really aren’t always above the law.
