Jan. 6, we’re all told that that’s the worst day that ever happened, these were the worst riots in America. It absolutely wasn’t. It is my opinion that this was a theatrical event that the progressive left put on. The individuals who were the instigators, who brought this about, these were agitators brought in to create this problem. I believe it was specifically done to rebrand Donald Trump as being an insurrectionist and a leader of a terrorist movement. I also believe that this was done to rebrand the Make America Great agenda—because remember, that was considered extremely popular by about 80 million Americans—so they wanted to rebrand Make America Great as an evil thing and those of us who supported Donald Trump and that agenda as evil and terrorists.
That’s all a lie. In the last five months, you wouldn’t even know that Donald J. Trump was ever the president. You wouldn’t even know that those four years of his presidency existed. George Orwell wrote a book, ‘1984.’ He talked about a concept called the memory hole; if the government in charge didn’t want you to remember someone, they put them in the memory hole. Donald J. Trump has been put in a memory hole, Make America Great Again has been put in a memory hole.

I wish I could forget Bargain Bin Mussolini! But no, we should never forget him, or all the blood on his hands. Especially because he's still here, threatening to one day return to power. So, maybe he's more like a Poor Man's Ganon? He does pretty much look the part... Let's hope there are no Links around to ritually sacrifice for his revival...
Anyway, I bet if the rioters had been successful in their little half-baked coup d'etat, they'd be brave patriots fighting for the will of the people, right Michele?
His presidency isn't being removed from history, we all know that embarrassing time in your country happened. And I doubt that anyone says that jan 6 was the worst riot ever, only that it was a pathetic display of treason.

I also believe that Bubba Ho-Tep is based on a true story, that Billie Eilish is a one-person female version of Milli Vanilli, that Ronald Reagan was killed by John Hinckley jr and replaced by a double and that Obama was born in Kenya and spied on Trump during the 2016 campaign!”
Fact check: it was about 74 million people who voted Republican in the USA’s 2020 election. As with all votes, these can be broadly divided into categories:
1) the politician’s fanbase
2) people who aren’t enthusiastic about the politician, but are members of the party
3) people who aren’t members but generally agree with the party, and
4) people who don’t like the party but dislike the other party even more.
In the case of Trump, category 1 was numerous, loud and recognisable. But the other categories still outnumbered them considerably. His movement was not “considered extremely popular by about 80 million Americans”.
Secondly, let’s go with the theory that it was leftist agitators who smashed their way into the Capitol and everyone else followed. Seriously, let’s for a moment assume that this was the case (even though it wasn’t). The other people still followed! And the people who have been named so far are Trumpists. Ashli Babbitt, the bloke who sat at Pelosi’s desk, the bloke who hung off the balcony, him with the zip-ties, the poor fellow in the furry hat (who’s clearly mentally ill and needs some proper help rather than a massive prison sentence). All Trump supporters.
As for forgetting Trump? He’s not the President any more; time to move on. Professional trolls like Boebert and Greene are still fucking things up in Congress, and that the governmental fabric of the USA has been weakened enough that a more competent tyrant may have a go at establishing a dictatorship in a few years’ time. As @WhiteNoise said, let the USA remember Trump as something that can never be allowed to happen again.
Michele, just shut up. Even when you were in Congress you were inconsequential, and you’ve been even more so since we threw you out. We’re tired of you embarrassing Minnesota, just as we were tired of the Orange Clown embarrassing the US.
Yes there have been worse riots in America as far as damage done. But this was supporters of a presidential candidate breaking into the capital with the intention of overturning the election and killing people they believe betrayed him, if they could. This was a direct attack on America, an attempt to take over. They failed. This time.
I wish we could forget the last four years happened but that is ALL people talk about. The Trump years have not been forgotten and no one is letting us forget they happened.
No matter how hard they try, Republicans will not be able to influence how future generations willl judge, or damn, the Trump presidency. It’s not going to be pretty, and they know it and don’t like it. Nevertheless, they’re flushing themselves down the toilet with him into the cesspool of history.
Donald J. Trump has been put in a memory hole, Make America Great Again has been put in a memory hole.
Would that that were only true!
I’m sure the forceful invasion of a legislative seat by a mob is always viewed as traumatic, especially in democracies. It ensures it will stay in the collective memory for a long time.
And, between his inept decisions and his violent rhetoric, Trump will not diseappear from politics and the fallout of his presidency isn’t yet fully established: in international relations, reasoning is on the long-term, and with Trump disregarding international treaties merely because he disagreed with them (JCPOA, Paris Agreement, TPP), good luck for having other countries trust any agreement with the US could last beyond a Presidential term.
Don’t worry, he will be ranked along Bachanan and Andrew Johnson.
The thing that scares me is that after years of these weekend warriors talking big behind their keyboards about how they're ready to take on the army and shit, they didn't even have to fight the army or fire a shot to get into the Capitol building. There was violence and a few lives lost, but nothing like the bloodbath they masturbate to in their fantasies. The point being that its kind of terrifying how easy it was for them. All the members of government had been ushered to a safe place, but what if they hadn't? What if the mob had been faster? More violent? Better armed?
We absolutely cannot forget Trump and what he inspired that day. I firmly believe that part of the lukewarm reaction of the Capitol police was a feeling of "This doesn't happen in America," which lead to them not knowing how to react. A small part, but still a part.
My darker and more vindictive side says that the officers around and in the building that day should have shot more of them than just Ashli, but that would have also required them to not be complicit. Because if the politics were reversed and it was BLM protesters on the street, they would have been much more ready to open fire.
Oh no, nobody forgot anything.
We western europeans are still busy drying our tears - some cried out of desperation and compassion for your country, others because they laughed so hard and couldn’t stop doing so just even once in 4 long years. We didn’t forget Gorge W. (and back then we thought that it couldn’t get worse, imagine that!) and we won’t forget Donald J. either, we are not that merciful.
A false flag operation was is it, Michelle? Pull the other one! I’ve read 1984 too, it was our university text, and I think some Trump supporters were determined to turn him into a 21st Century version of Big Brother.
Thank the goddess it didn’t happen!
Confused?
