@Reynardine:
"Kryptozoon, fugu has nothing to do with the Near/Mid East. People do eat pork in Japan."
Total non-sequitur. I've never claimed that fugu is eaten in the near east. Japanese eating pork has also nothing to do with what I said. I said foods whose preparation is much more error-prone than cooking pork did not end up on food taboo lists. I did not think I have to add but I add now that on the other hand we have obviously baseless food taboos from all over the world, such as the personal, one-man food taboos of some Pacific islanders. So I claim food taboos start as unreasonable quirks and they evolved in early Judaism as a means to keep the population from fraternization and interbreeding with the neighbors.
But, by all means, please explain how "fugu is not eaten in the Middle East" contributes to anything here. Unless you want to claim that Middle-eastern people are somehow different and more rational than the rest of the world.
@SpukiKitty:
"Even if Kryptozoon might have had some decent points, zie ruined it with "Theistic Propaganda"."
So, in your world, the validity of a point depends on the surrounding text? This is some "atheists should not point out discrepancies in the Bible" level evasiveness. A message stands or fails on its own merits whether it's from the Prophet of God or found written in the sand on the beach. Only the information matters. I understand people not wanting to engage hostile discussion partners, that's why I don't talk much to religious people if I can help it, but the point either stands or falls on its own, no matter who made it or what did he add.
"Nothing annoys me more than people who look at spiritual people like myself and call me a "woo-loving idiot". "
I did not call you a woo-loving idiot. I am, however, telling you now that in all cases so far, without exception, when someone told me they were "spiritual" they meant it as a passive-aggressive claim to superiority; there's this "spirituality" thing which they possess and I don't, and they can't be arsed to explain it because "I would not understand". Do you plan doing that here?
