Is there scientific proof that smoking causes cancer? Of course there isn’t. What is there are opinions coming from often flimsy collection of data with a largely faulty procedure promoted in Germany by the Nazis, whose chief Adolph Hitler, obsessed with health and hatred of smokers, ordered up antitobacco pseudo-science to demonstrate that his hatred of tobacco was rooted in science rather than in ideology and/or emotions.

Unfortunately, after the war the Nazi junk science was furthered, and more and more epidemiological studies proliferated to support an Eugenics ideology that indeed preceded and continued after the Nazi regime. Today multifactorial epidemiology based on unverifiable questionnaires is everywhere, and at the base of endless regulations, obligations, and prohibitions that kill economies and freedom.

What is worse, both the public and many "experts" actually believe that interviews with unverifiable answers by people who are already heavily influenced by propaganda (if not already sick, so in search of a rationalization of their disease), often about memories of decades earlier, can be turned into precise numbers. This numerical nonsense is called "science" to the point of excluding real science. In effect biased opinion has become "fact" while fanatical peeves become "the causes" of all the ills of the world. The evils and the evil ones must be eradicated to the benefit of the technocratic Master Race. This is Eugenics and this is how it lives on.

This travesty is in fact both symptom and cause of the intellectual and societal rot at the heart of these very bad times.

When Will We Understand That Nicotine Is Not Addictive? - Yet another study discovers the obvious: smoking cessation gadgets do not work in the long run. Why? The answer is simple: nicotine itself is not addictive, and smoking is a habit -- the habit, like all such behaviors, is psychological, not physical, and it is exerted through association. This view of the smoking habit is of course blasphemy nowadays, for everybody says that nicotine is addictive. But look at the players:

$$ The pharmaceutical companies support the addiction "model" in order to sell patches and other devices;

$$ Doctors profit by selling smoking cessation programs;

$$ The tobacco industry profits when smokers feel they are hopelessly addicted and cannot quit;

$$ The anti-smokers, whose goal is to control 'unacceptable' personal behavior, exaggerate the concept of addiction in order to generate a feeling of guilt, so that smokers (and their families and colleagues) will accept and tolerate the anti-smokers' intrusive intolerance.

Of course, once the flood gates of mislabeled addictive behavior are opened, it becomes possible (and profitable) to attempt to "control" other behaviors -- over-eating, drinking, etc.

If you like to smoke, drink or eat chocolate, just sit in your favourite chair, get out some of your favourite addiction stuff and read this paper, written in accessible language, yet highly documented.

Learn about the addiction myth - or should we say the addiction scam? Although the paper (click on full title, below) analyses mainly nicotine, the addiction "theory" is applicable to anything imaginable. There are very many definitions of addiction - all equally flawed and meaningless, for addiction simply does not exist: public health is trying to reduce gluttony to figures and percentages, thus arrogantly attempting to reduce human beings to quantum entities. This pathetic attempt may serve the agendas of pharmaceutical industries and opportunist politicians, but it is not reality. People are not addicted: they simply make choices based on cost-benefit, and rewards. They are not sick, and they don't need any cure by the Therapeutic State. Unloading personal responsibility on others seems to be the unfortunate excuse of a spoiled generation, that has chosen to point the finger at anyone or anything to justify its guilt for overindulgence -- and its legitimate desire for pleasure and joy of living. That makes today's society rabidly puritanical. We don't readily recognize this, since our new puritanism is superficially different from the old, having become more open about sex and having removed religious and overtly moral references from the discussion. Instead we have the language of health, language about the body, not the spirit. It's a self-deception.
