Rupert Sheldrake told Jesse Michels the sun may be a form of conscious plasma life, that morphic fields transmit knowledge across generations outside of genes, and that consciousness itself floats free of the brain.

He is not speaking in metaphor.

What if these “fields” are the same non-local intelligence that has been interacting with human observers for decades through UAP and orbs?

Why else would a serious biologist argue that information and awareness exist beyond the body while official programs continue to recover craft that appear to operate on principles science cannot explain?

The same morphic resonance he describes would let non-human intelligences leave lasting imprints on human perception and memory without ever landing.

Is the sun itself a living plasma intelligence that has been watching us the entire time?

The chilling implication is that consciousness was never ours to begin with and something far older has been shaping it from outside the skull.

You shouldn’t entertain debating metaphysics and panpsychism.

It "may" also taste like raspberries and be named Shirley, but there's zero fucking evidence of that either.

New age syncretic pseudoscientific religion. Conspiracy theory traditions are integrated and the angels and ancestor spirits of old become interdimensional UFOs...

Just like with supernatural beings stories, he convinces himself of the ridiculous claims about the ETs. And like for older spiritualists, what he can't explain in the extraordinary claims somehow becomes "physical evidence", it "operate on principles science cannot explain"...

To cope with the fear of death and the lack of evidence for other deities, "consciousness" must be outside brains and the Sun must be alive and conscious.

Only, yes, science does attempt to explain such human traditions and fantasies. But it doesn't waste much time with the untenable metaphysics of the claims. And while neurology doesn't fully explain consciousness, the correlates and the evidence are strong that it's a product of minds and meat brains. The same with psychedelics.

"Morphic resonance" is not science, just woo for the old "telepathy".

The last two sentences, a loaded question and the conclusion he would like us to accept uncritically, a doctrine and a hasty conclusion. Science doesn't work that way either, it just follows the actual leads, it doesn't begin with fantastic conclusions. So religion and mythology "to the rescue".

Naw.
I rest my skepticism of this narrative on having been shore patrol in a liberty port. If consciousness were outside of our skulls, then why would it be subject to intoxicants? Guys pour pollutants into their brains and they do dumb shit.
And it’s not just motor skills. I could buy that an external consciousness had trouble making drunk hands hold a beer or making dance steps possible.
But drunks change in more ways than slurred speech and clumsy grips. Guys who hate being the center of attention are on the stage doing the chicken dance. Guys who love and respect their wives flirt with the waitresses. Calm and rational men pick fights with that ugly troll in the mirror. And guys married for over 30 years HAVE simply HAVE to call their wife at 0200 hours (HER time) and express their love and respect and barf on the payphone… And guys who make speeches about what a horrible industry fast food is, and how offensive Taco Bell is to Mexican culture, will wake up in the morning with two and a half drive-through burritos on their pillow.
I can’t see an external consciousness choosing these alterations because the brain biochemistry is impaired.
