I really don't understand why devs do this. Much like biological women (ironically) troons don't buy or play videogames. They'll virtue signal on Twitter but they'll never actually support you with you know, actual money by buying the game.

“I really don't understand why devs do this.”
It’s really easy: It works.
For a number of reasons, and i DO believe you don’t understand any of them, businesses are successful when they’re inclusive. At least right now. Maybe next administration they’ll be forced to always use Ozzie and Harriet.
Women don't buy games? My mother was the primary purchaser of vidya when we were kids, and the primary consumer as well. She loved the Mario games, DKC, Dr. Mario, anything where you ran around collecting coins or bananas or the such. I got her to play TMNT 2: The Arcade Game precisely once on our NES (she only played a bit because she had trouble telling which turtle was hers) and we got her to play Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario, both of which were very much outside her wheelhouse.
What was my point? I dunno, guess I just wanted to feel nostalgic for the days me and my brothers would sit and watch my mom get through StarTropics for a bit.
Also, your primary assertion is pure, 100% argumentum ad rectum.

According to an Entertainment Software Association survey, women players in the United States increased from 40% in 2010 to 48% in 2014 and women and non-binary people make up approximately 14% of game audio professionals. (source )
As of 2023, The Prevalence of Trans and Non-Binary Gamers Has Grown from 1% to 5% in the Past 7 Years. (source )
Buffpup has played “Honkai Star Rail” and recently “Zenless Zone Zero”. She thirsted over Kafka and Himeko in the former, von Lycaon and Jane Doe in the latter.
No wonder, as she’s Pansexual.
Her sponsor for those streamed gameplays being miHoYo: so why is it that this company in Shanghai not only doesn’t care about the gender of those who play their games…?!
…oh, and Buff has already made you her bitch: with her 9 inch cocka.
About 20 years ago, I wrote my Anthro final paper about women in gaming. Even then, IIRC, about 30% of gamers were women, though that was including moms who played Farmville as gamers, a controversial (but accurate) stance.
A game created by men & women in Shanghai: “Genshin Impact”.
Frankly, you don’t want to know what a foxgirl does to a dogboy in that scenario, o OP with a canine name.
I can name several female Vtubers I follow that play more video games than morons like you can ever hope to achieve. But I’ll give one big example:
Arin Hanson was at one time chosen by SEGA to be the ambassador for the Sonic the Hedgehog. A questionable choice that nobody fucking liked, but SEGA was going through a self-depreciation phase for Sonic. That was considered embarrassing for the Sonic franchise and did much damage to the brand.
Fast forward to today where the current ambassador is Inugami Korone of Hololive. She has been universally loved as the new ambassador by both SEGA and fans. She got so much support from SEGA including new outfits and accessories for her model and even DLC in Sonic Frontiers. It is a great contrast to see now that Sonic is going through a bit of a renaissance.
SEGA went from having a guy who hates Sonic to a woman who loves Sonic and it has paid out for them greatly.
But do go on about how women don’t like video games as much as men do to your little circle-jerk.
Confused?
