Lauren, your words are not simply a call for a boycott. If they were, I would think they were misguided, but would have no objection for you to peacefully express your opinion in that way as we are all entitled to by the Constitution. The thing is that Target wasn’t simply being boycotted. Multiple stores reported direct and specific threats against employees. You and your ilk did nothing to condemn this or stop it. Instead, walked right up to the bright red line at the first amendment and kept your toes on the safe side while others do your dirty work. Condemn in the strongest language and demand prosecution to the maximum extent of the law to anyone who phoned in threats to Target. Otherwise, what you are doing is encouraging this activity. Not condemning it is simply giving your permission for it to continue.
Shutting down dog whistle politics is simple and well in accordance with the Constitution. How is that? Because our free press needs to step up and do its job and expose and condemn people like Broebert.
