Did you know that creationists and evolutionists have the same facts? Christians and non-Christians have the same facts?
Both exist in the real world, but some mentally live in an imaginary world, while others attempt to reconcile their view with knowledge, discoveries made about the world.
one’s interpretation depends on one’s worldview. And one’s worldview depends on the presuppositions they have.
False equivalence fallacy. One's world view may be influenced by actual facts discovered about the world. Opinions are not all equal or as informed.
Ultimately, there are only two foundations our worldviews, God’s Word or man’s word.
Projection fallacy and denial that your doctrines are of human origin, plus the denial that we have discovered some actual facts about the world by observation, those are not human inventions. Ignorance and selective blindness.
That’s why at the debate I had with Bill Nye in 2014 at the @CreationMuseum, it was important for me to help people understand that no matter what “facts” I threw at Bill Nye, he would just reinterpret them within his worldview based on his foundation of man’s word.
It was not a debate, it was a propaganda show for your indoctrinated audience. Noone without a conflict of interest support your conclusions that completely disregarded anything Nye said as you falsely declared "victory" (well, it was successful as an affirmation show for the followers). Nye, by accepting to play the game, allowed you to pretend that you are equivalent to a pop science educator, which you are not (also why you still cite old events today). You don't learn about evolution and how it works during a short show. You need to read on the topic from a reputable source, instead of dismissing it because you do not like it. If you need more than words, trees and databases, you need to do some field or lab work, or both. Some people spend their lives doing this, finding it extremely rewarding. Science has strong foundations. It's also universal, not a cult.
Many people commented how this approach (which is a big emphasis of the @AiG ministry) really helped them understand the true nature of the creation/evolution debate—it’s a debate about different worldviews based on different foundations (presuppositions).
Like my explanation above. Not really a debate. Your presupposition is an a-priori conclusion based on false premises, that's not how science works. Evolution is not controversial in science. It's only disliked by those who are motivated to reject knowledge about our origins, for religious or manipulative reasons. Because of that, not all religious people reject science either. Dogma such as YEC or DAC only persist in some sects. Their scriptural basis itself is easily shown to be conflicted, like the texts that are selected and consulted, their origin and their interpretations.
