I’ve heard it said, a LOT of times, that God doesn’t give us any burdens we can’t handle. MAYBE someone’s fundamentalist parents fucked them up with a bad bible translation, and the psychiatrist is talking them down to where they can find God on their own terms AND THIS IS GOD’S PLAN! You don’t know. You can’t speak for any god except the one in your head.
