In case some people are still ambivalent about how fucked up FSTDT truly is, here's a quote from shy, ex-FSTDT admin:
As long as nobody is actually having sex or masturbating in public during this, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Where the hell did you come from? Victorian England?? Nudity exists, and children will see it. Children also know sexuality exists, no matter how hard you try to shelter them. Get over it.
Always bring this up if a conversation about FSTDT because this is really all anyone needs to know about this site. Their former admin is a proven degenerate and nobody challenged him on it. They're in no position to judge fundie Christians with any credibility.

I mean… yeah? There’s nothing morally wrong about simple nudity. Bodies are bodies. Teaching your kids that bodies are gross or sinful and need to be covered up is a good way to instill an eating disorder or worse. And it makes it harder for them to come forward if someone is hurting them/making them uncomfortable OR if something is wrong with a part of their bodies that’s considered ‘private’. A lot of people have died in the modern age from cancer or infection that didn’t have to die, because they didn’t want to tell someone something was wrong with their breasts/ass/genitals and by the time they came forward it was too late.
While growing up, my family (two boys and two girls) was fairly casual about nudity, including having both same- and opposite-sex people showering together to save water - we were dirt poor for a long while, because my mother was a homemaker and my father didn’t make enough for a family of six. Likewise, everyone slept naked, and often just didn’t bother to get dressed for awhile after waking up or showering if there was no need to. This wasn’t because we were nudists, or even a deliberate thing about instilling lack of body shame; my parents were just kind of a mix of indifferent to and unaware of a lot of social norms. This mostly ended back when I was 11 due to being better able to afford pajamas and water, plus my mother’s side of the family finding out and being alarmed by it. (“What the heck? the kids are approaching puberty and they’re going to start being into S-E-X, also you should have stopped letting them get away with being naked when they were like three or four”. Far from an exact quote, but things like that.)
But only mostly, because there were little things like how us kids stopped bothering with pajamas after growing out of the first set (and my parents never bought us any more) and people not bothering to cover/hide out of “modesty” while getting dressed or undressed. In the end, the only one who developed a neurosis about “OMG bare bodies! panic! nudity = sex!” was my mother, and I’m really not sure how that happened. Also, I don’t know about any of the others because we don’t often talk about that sort of thing, but I do go to both sexual and nonsexual events where some degree of nudity is present, and it’s the general atmosphere and behavior of the people who are there which makes all the difference. (Neither bothers me the slightest.)
I do think that should be normalized, but unfortunately where I live (and probably the US in general) the idea tends not to go over well.

People hiding pedophiles in their midst, like the SBC, are in no position to judge anyone else in the world with any credibility.
Okay? I’m not an exhibitionist myself by any means, but I still don’t see your problem with Shy’s comment. After all, we are all born nude, right? Children see themselves nude when showering and such. Trying to shelter them too much will only backfire.
And just to be clear, NONE of us here are saying we should expose young children to sexuality or pornography. But there is still a difference between understanding what the human body is and full-blown sexuality…
Oh wow, the link is to a quote of “Lady Checkmate”, from 8 years ago. That brings back some memories. I (along with a few other people from here) used to get into it with her in the comment sections on “Christian News Network” and a few other places. I got banned by her a few times for really doing nothing worse than not being a fundie myself, I think. I even had the idea of coming back under new accounts and every name I used was another one related to a Queen song, but of course nobody ever caught on to that, lol.
But aside from all that…yeah, how the fuck is children seeing adults naked such a horrible thing, as long as it’s not in a sexual way???
Someone who didn’t have hangups about their body, certainly others’ perception about such: even after becoming a Christian. Indeed, liked to indulge in what they referred to as ‘Air Bathing’. And while working for a photographer who didn’t deal in nudity when it came to selling the product of sessions with said person - mostly in fetish gear - this person was wont to do photoshoots with private camera clubs whilst naked: and the one who was the centre of all this attention enjoyed such. Oh, and one certain photo of said person with cigarette in mouth (unlit: they didn’t smoke) and with whip in hand was very popular among teenage boys. That person was clothed at the time, too.
Bettie Page wasn’t shy about her assets.
One photo even appeared in the centrefold of a certain magazine, of Bettie kneeling near a Xmas tree whilst holding a bauble. All she wore was a Santa hat and a smile. Gee.
How many young boys sneaked a peek at this pic from the stack of “Playboy”s under dad’s bed in the 1950s…?!
“. They're in no position to judge fundie Christians with any credibility.”
And yet, we do… We’re pointing and laughing right now.
Do you remember being a kid? I don’t know about you, but we were fascinated by sex. Didn’t understand it, no idea how to do it, but we knew early on that we wanted it. Weren’t sure if we’d possess it, or do it, or hang it on a wall and admire it.
But, yeah, we sought it out, we looked for it everywhere. So we saw nudity. We wanted to see more nudity.
Grown up christains pretending children have an innocence that needs to be protected, they’re hilarious.
Back in college I got my first apartment with three other guys. One of us (not me, sadly) got a girlfriend. She was there a lot, often wandering around in her underwear. And she was very attractive.
So naturally we stared, but ... the interesting thing was how quickly we got used to it. Within a couple weeks we were saying "Heather, move it! Your ass is in front of the TV again!"

What? Yes somebody did! First of all, this person:
Elie
I kinda agree with the idea of not allowing children into certain parts of Pride, or at other occasions like the Folsom street fair.
There was also a self-declared “SJW Critic” who … acts a lot like you, now that I think of it.
In any case, “nudity is natural” is not an unreasonable (or “degenerate”) point of view, and is not a pro-pedo stance. @shy has been consistently anti-pedophilia every time it has come up, and the last time he’s specifically called someone out for pedo apologies on this site is a few months ago:

LockdownIsLame is quote-mining.

I’m trying to remember the name, but she had a buddy who apparently thought he was a cartoonist, used to post “artwork” of his, making some totally fundie point or another. What always made me laugh about that was this guy was presumably an actual adult, but his artwork was like…junior high school level, really.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
