Turkish academic ridiculed for saying that hunting ban aims to make Turks 'Lgbtxyz'

An academic specialized in wildlife was ridiculed for saying that a ban that would be placed on hunting would be a part of making Turks "Lgbtxyz."

Prof. Şağdan Başkaya from Karadeniz Technical University also said that the Turks have "significant duties" in the world and that a ban would make them "artificial robots."

His remarks came after the killing of an endangered bustard in the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat prompted outrage and calls for a ban on hunting intensified.

"Banning hunting is a policy of unarming Turks and making them Lgbtxyz and artificial robots," Başkaya said on Facebook on Nov. 13.

According to the professor, the Turks have "a significant mission in this world."

"Nagorno-Karabakh was taken with guns. Banning hunting would not protect animals. Hunting is a lifestyle," he said.

"No species were destroyed by hunters. Legal hunting is made into an issue only in our country because we're Turks and they know that Turks have an important mission in this world," Başkaya added.
