Once again we must stand up against #MeToo #BlackLivesMatter and #Antifa and declare that Santa is White. They want to say he is colored but this is not true and an attack on our nation! #SantaIsWhite

“Santa Claus” comes from the Dutch/Belgian holiday figure “Saint Nicholas”/”Sinterklaas” who has pretty much the same role here (*). Meanwhile, the Saint Nick figure in turn originated from a Turkish saint (the Patron Saint of Children) as far as I’m aware, yes.
Also, Sinterklaas is pretty well known in some versions to be acompanied by a former African slave he freed (**), and who willingly helps him in turn out of gratitude. See it however you will, but to me it seems like Santa and Sinterklaas would fully support BLM.
(*)Key differences being using a white stallion instead of reindeers and a sleigh, and not living in the North Pole. Also, you’re supposed to keep your shoe out with a carrot or something else for the horse instead of a sock with cookies.
(**)In other versions of the story it’s either a white helper who is simply always covered in chimney soot; or outright Krampus.
Weird how divisive fictional symbols of benevolent qualities that are supposed to unite people immediately become once you suggest to any one person they couldn't mistake them for a relative. Even when everyone in the room is aware the symbol was cobbled together from stories and traditions across continents and centuries and is, more importantly, fictional.
I think a fitting being to judge who gets their holiday wishes granted and who gets smacked with a stocking full of coal would be one that appears in exactly the physical form of someone you would instantly distrust. It's easy to extend good will to the familiar, but easy doesn't show who you are when put to the test.
Confused?
