I don't even know what the fuck to say to this. I know I've been saying that a lot lately but I think people are getting stupider and stupider right in front of my eyes. Granted, incels aren't most people, but what happens at the bottom of the food chain inevitably affects what's above it.

I don’t think that’s really true. My take is that most people start out stupid. Some people stay there. Other people get smarter over time, some broadly, and some in limited areas. For those who become broadly smarter, there is an increasing awareness of how generally stupid everyone who stays there truly is.
And that’s without how the gradual increase in social media makes stupidity even more visible, and specific forms of stupidity more organized. And organized stupidity can be scary, even dangerous. But even before social media existed, pretty much every generation had people who despaired that humanity appeared to be getting dumber. Granted that some of those people would be the kind who appear on this website today, most often under “Dunning-Krueger” or “pyscho”, but generally they’re decent enough folks who just don’t realize that it’s not everyone else who’s changed, it’s themselves.
But assuming that’s all true, don’t let it go to your head. That way lies Dunning-Krueger territory. Stay humble, check yourself, be kind to others even if they screw up unless they’re horrible garbage humans, blah blah blah, I’m sure you can figure out more good advice on your own or will be able to eventually. 😀
