I’m a Teacher Who Blew the Whistle on CRT in Schools, Suffered Retaliation, but Now I’ve Prevailed

On July 13, 2021, I blew the whistle at Legal Insurrection on how a new Critical Race curriculum in the Providence, Rhode Island, middle school where I taught was creating racial hostility, turning students and staff against me because I was white, and turning students against their country.

My students, almost all of whom were minority, started calling me “America” because I was white — You are America, they would say, we are not. How could I keep silent seeing what the Critical Race curriculum was doing to the students and our society?

What followed was a year of retaliation, harassment, intimidation, and involuntary transfer to another school where there was no teaching position for me. I was forced to spend a year alone in a windowless empty school basement resource room, as students and staff passed by and gawked at me like I was some strange caged zoo animal, audibly mumbling how I was that ‘racist’ teacher they had been warned about.

I am emerging from the basement victorious, with a full-time regular classroom assignment. I am unbowed, and more committed to fighting the CRT scourge than ever before.

I filed grievance after grievance not willing to let the school department win. Blowing the whistle on this racialized, anti-American and most harmful curriculum was and still is an important story to tell. Over the past two years, I have seen a disturbing and frightening radicalization of the school curriculum, in which race became the central focus, with heavy emphasis on oppressor-oppressed narratives. The result was increased racial tension in school, particularly directed against me as a “white” teacher both from students and other teachers.

The Providence School District management have essentially replaced the study of American history with a mutated version that is nothing more than woke, racist propaganda intended to inject the politics of “white supremacy” and to apply the canard of systemic racism to the past, airbrushing white historical figures from factual American history and changing their race to Black or Asian.

Not everyone is amused.

Professing love for gays but still believing in traditional marriage is spreading a, “message of intolerance” said Ad Week. Ad Week then went on to pitch a hilariously self-awareless fit over Catholic Vote’s “appropriation of LGBTQ themes to marginalize LGBTQ people.”

These Catholics are nervous about revealing their stance on same-sex marriage because they’re (spoiler alert!) against it.

That stance is nothing new. And everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as it doesn’t lead to legislation that discriminates. No, what’s galling about the ad is its appropriation of LGBTQ themes to marginalize LGBTQ people.

The ad, with a straight face, position Catholics as a persecuted group for not having their message of intolerance (here blatantly recast as its opposite) widely accepted these days. It even plays like a coming-out video for Catholics who are afraid to take the “brave” step of voicing their objection to equality. That’s a pretty audacious tactic—disingenuous and disrespectful, to say the least.

Beyond that, it is rather illogical. You can’t reposition a group as oppressed when there is no movement to oppress them. And you certainly can’t equate being called a bigot for spouting intolerance with anything near what members of the LGBTQ community have experienced for decades.

Gee, why would Catholics have cause for concern over voicing their support for traditional marriage? It’s not like religious institutions are imperiled by the Supreme Court’s ruling on Obergefell v. Hodges or anything. Oh wait…

The best part? Without realizing it Ad Week proved Catholic Vote’s point. Well done, Ad Week. Well done.

Can everyone CALM DOWN? Those who work and volunteer at the Volusia County’s Republican Party headquarters, located in Florida, discovered their office vandalized.
Vandals shot out the windows and people discovered four bullet holes inside the office.

From The Daytona Beach News-Journal:
Inside, volunteers pointed to bullet holes in the walls and ceiling.

“We have never had any kind of vandalism before at a Republican Headquarters,” Tony Ledbetter, the chairman of Volusia County’s Republican Party, said in an email Monday morning. “It’s a small strip center and no other business was vandalized, so it was obviously politically motivated.”

Ledbetter said he was the last to leave the GOP headquarters at 4 p.m. Sunday and workers in the adjacent businesses, including an e-cigarette store, a restaurant and a massage business, had closed by 10 p.m. No one heard shots fired and there were no injuries.

That means the incident took place after 4PM on Sunday. Police Captain Mark Cheatham said law enforcement has determined “at least four rounds were fired into the building” and they’re still tracking down video. They do not have any witnesses.

The shooting comes after law enforcement arrested Cesar Sayoc for mailing suspicious packages to Democrats.
Jewel Dickson, the Volusia Democratic Party chair, said that the group finds the actions “appalling” and takes it as a “sign of things going wrong.” However, she said she “would not be quick to blame a Democrat for doing that” because “t could be anybody angry.”

“The state of our political discourse in America is an embarrassment to all parties and those involved in the political process,” stated Florida state Rep. Tom Leek. “Neither Democrats nor Republicans own the high ground on this issue. Sooner or later, both parties are going to have to stop suffering idiots within their own party, and cast them out on their own.”
