It’s also interesting how the regimes with the harsher sentences and lower reinsertion programs are also the poorest with the more crime.
As human rights are generally eroded, this also means the replacement of decent work opportunities by opportunistic abuse and exploitation. So imagine the situation, with women stuck at home, a large family to feed and a desperate man enslaved at the mercy of his boss.
And indebtment, then suddenly, sent to die in another country because he’s desperate enough and joins the army. What happens to many Russians today. Listen to the testimony of POWs.
That’s when they don’t also sell their girls to richer people.
Then remember, it’s the same regimes who offer no decent health coverage. An injury or illness is the road to misery.
Superstition and quackery also causes people to resort to non-working medicines and scams and people to attack eachother over stupid false beliefs.
Extreme inequality, poor education, misery and oppression is the road to all evils…
