Okay, so some hillbillies in South European “shithole countries” might not accept the concept of naturalised immigrants and might think that all Americans are either blond blue-eyed nordics or from Darkest Africa so obviously no South European could be US American (despite the notoriety of the American Cosa Nostra, proving that US Americans from Southern Europe are a thing…). I mean, prevalence of such people in Croatia would not be inconsistent with my knowledge of the situation in former Yugoslavia, but I do not see how that proves anything, except that xenophobic morons are xenophobic morons and that there are plenty of xenophobic morons in the Balkans.
Also, the Croatian hillbillies may mock and attempt to invalidate the Zlatičanins simply because they pick up that they were originally from the hated neighbouring rival shitholes.
Anyways, something tells me that all the inventions and discoveries made by immigrants to the US are still considered American by Meg&Mog. Even if she does not accept Einstein, Tesla, etc. as American…
A woman of Russian descent: she speaks that language fluently. On the streams via Twitch she’s had, there have been those in chat who typed in Cyrillic: and not just because they are Russian, but her content has been highly amusing. They would smile if she travelled to a convention thus they were able to meet her. That person from North America: laugh? With the one formerly known as Nina Kosaka, now Matara Kan.

There’s the meme where someone posted, “I’m Scottish, French, Scandinavian, and Indian. If i go to Europe, what will teh consider me?” And the answer from several posters was, “American.”

Even if these two people you’re referring to, whoever they are, are indeed Serbs from Montenegro who apparently live in the US, I don’t think there would be any difficulty for people here in Croatia to see them as Americans, especially if they’ve been in the US for a while.
