It picks out a vulnerable target,
Trans people *who are trans* are “vulnerable” to messages suggesting that they might be trans. Shocker!
isolates the target from his family,
Barely adjacent to reality. Cults pretty much automatically isolate people from their families, unless they can get something out of it. The LGBTQIA+ community in general, including the trans community, only recommends “isolation” (low/no contact) if things are abusive and there’s little hope for reconciliation. Sure some people who had a really bad time with their families might jump the gun on that, but more reasonable people would note that only the person in the situation can really know how necessary leaving might be.
But since this is Matt Walsh’s audience, we can expect that the vast majority of people who aren’t hate-watching him to be abusive to their trans kids, so it might look superficially true from their perspective. Also note the use of a male pronoun here.
love-bombs with excessive validation and flattery,
“I’m feeling really dysphoric, can you call me cute/handsome/valid?” is not the same thing as “come back, we’re the only ones who really love you!”
viciously ostracizes and attacks anyone who leaves.
You mean detransitioners, and even then only the ones who attacked the trans community first? Or truscum, who try to spread toxic attitudes about trans people, often for the gratification of anti-trans people, and often weren’t even part of the community in the first place?
This is all Cult 101 stuff.
This is all pop-psych by someone who barely understands the subject and is politically motivated to come to a specific conclusion.
