Theory The only thing that's preventing a massive suicide wave of men is the fear of hell

Imagine if tomorrow scientists were able to proof without any doubt that hell doesn't exist. The planet would lose at least three quarters of the male population. But women? They'd be perfectly fine, maybe a bit sad cause many of them would lose their source of income but pretty much none of them would commit suicide. Only men have the mental capability to reflect about what might be beyond the shadows of death and it's that fear of the unknown what's stopping billions of subhumans from swallowing a bullet. Maybe hell doesn't exist after all. Maybe it's all a great conspiracy to keep men from roping. What do you think?

Not hell but I won't rope because I believe in reincarnation/isekai. But 99% of these are non-suicide-related, so I gotta die naturally to get my dream.

Google children talking about when they were big, check out consciousness studies where they detected observable data that proves you know when you are being watched even through a camera thousands of miles away. Reincarnation is real. Extradimensional consciousness is real.

As someone who has actually come close to death before 25, which was only the beginning on a grindingly long road to recovery, and as someone who has no doubt that there is no afterlife:

No. Why would I?

Life is worth living. There is so much I have ahead of me. If I were to commit suicide, I would never complete my studies, never fulfill my lifelong ambition to research animals, never find my lovely crazy soulmate, never become a father, never become a grandfather, never learn of so many exciting discoveries about this fantastic world in the decades to come…

I do not fear the Unknown. Uncertainty, lack of security, but not the Unknown. And I dread Death for the complete opposite reasons: For its finality and inevitability. One day, I will not be alive anymore, nor ever again. No mmatter how long I live, there will ever be so much more to learn, so much more new things that will be forever beyond my grasp.

There is also a more specific fear of death: That of early death. I have always feared that my life would be cut short, my life’s dreams unfulfilled, and my father’s death and my own near-death reinforced this possibility being real.

But my dread of death, the knowledge that my life will inevitably end, only strengthens my will to live. Yes, I will die one day, and I will be gone forever, but I am determined that I will not let that happen before I have lived a long and fulfilled life, and if I have to beat off the Grim Reaper with his own scythe!
And it is in my determination to live long and prosper, as well as humility in my role in the incomprehensibly grand, unscripted, ever-changing play that is life, that has been going on since times immemorial and will be going on long after our extinction, that I find, to a certain degree, acceptance of my mortality.

Appreciate life, for it is finite, and that which is dead is forever lost.

The thing that prevents me, as an atheist with obviously no fear of hell, from committing suicide is the fact that I consider living better than not living.

Imagine the fate that would await you lot: for when he's lonely, he's hungry! And when he gets hungry, he'll choke on your baby wiener hammers! Toss your salads then lick all of your pubes before taking out your balls and gnaw with more teeth until you're all screaming 'AAAAAAAAAAAA!' Like fucking babies!

I think we have already established here that yes, the fear of hell is the only thing keeping fundies from becoming monstrous psychopaths. They literally have no internal moral compass whatsoever.

I'd be upset and sad if 3/4 of all men died.

That’s very beautiful said, really. And I fully get where you come from, and since you’re so open, I’ll be a bit open as well. See, as some might know here, I’ve had a depression and anxiety issues for some time. Sometimes they’re perfectly manageable, other times they are not. And at my lowest points I have genuinely considered suicide. At one point I came very close to doing it (deciding locking myself in a car in a garage with the engine running, I’d prefer to keep it humane), but stopped myself because I realized then what it would do to those I would leave behind, which terrified me more.

All that being said, even at my suicidal moments, I don’t want to die; I sometimes only feel like it’s the only way out of my issues. I love living and if I were to die tomorrow, or next week, or next month, it would be with heavy regrets because there are still soooooo many things I’d like to experience, learn, and do. And most of all, I’d prefer to so something, anything constructive with my life. Even if so far the most meaningful things I’ve done is edit Wiki’s and donated blood, I still want to make sure I’ve made a greater positive difference in the world that I’ve been a burden to anyone. It may be from an old comic, but it’s a Dr. Strange quote that’ll forever be remembered by me: “The greatest gift anyone can ever recieve is the chance to do something meaningful with their life.” It may be small chances I’ve gotten so far, but I’ve sure as hell always tried never to squander them.

So anyway, I don’t mind dying per se. I just only find it acceptable once I’ve made my peace with life and done all that I can, you know. I want to choose the when and how, otherwise my “afterlife” will be full of regrets.
