I can kinda see how an earthquake could be seen as āa strong sign to tell us to repentāā¦if you actually believe in that kinda stuff, anyway. A strong-enough earthquake can destroy things and kill people, obviously. But what does a solar eclipse really do to anyone? Fuck up your eyes if youāre dumb enough to stare at the sun? Make it dark and slightly colder for a little while?
(I watched the eclipse yesterday myself, from where it was at 99.9% totality at most, or so I read. There was definitely a little chill in the air for a moment on what was otherwise a warm spring day!)

If solar eclipses are a sign for America to repent, then what about the fact that the next one (at least the next total one) visible in the US isnāt coming until 2044? So, then we can repent now, but sin and commit general debauchery and so forth for the next 20 years? Iām down, lol

The next two eclipses visible in the *mainland* US will be in 2044 and 2045. However, one will be visible in northern Alaska in 2033. Neither Anchorage nor Fairbanks are in the path of totality; one would have to go to the parts where there are pretty much no roads. But thatās technically in the US.
