A North Texas mother is in court today for a pre-trial hearing on a family assault case. Erica Moore is the woman who admitted beating her son with an electrical cord for engaging in a homosexual act.
Maximum punishment for the Class-A misdemeanor Assault Bodily Injury charge is one year in jail. At the hearing Tuesday, Hill told CBS 11 News she rejected a plea deal that would have included one year's probation, a $1,000 fine and mandatory anger management and parenting classes.
Hill says she's willing to go to trial because she didn't do anything wrong. The Forest Hill woman stands by her opinion that she disciplined her son as any parent has right to.
According to Moore, one evening she found the door to her 15-year-old son's bedroom closed. "My cousin at the time he was 18. My son he was 15 and I had walked in the room on [my cousin] giving oral sex to my son and I started whipping my son, and I'm the one who got in trouble as a result of me whipping him," she said, back in March.

This is from 2013, it is still an insane reaction all because your son turns out to be gay though.

… I’d ask in what universe taking an improvised whip to someone is a misdemeanour rather than felony assault with a weapon but then I remember Texas is run by people who think America is “a Christian nation” where laws only apply along religious lines. Parental rights of good Christian parents that raise their children through fear and punishment meant to smother individuality moulding them to a social production standard with built-in trauma control methods rather than heathen love and understanding growing children into functional adults which is the real abuse supersede human rights so that anything under the umbrella of “discipline” up to and including bodily harm causing death is “none of your fucking business liberal scum unlike the sex lives of consenting adults who shall be put to death” and I start wondering if religious tolerance is actually a bad idea after all.

You didn’t even bothr to check whether your son was consenting, you went straight to whipping.

The kids’s grandmother took him to hospital afterwards. ‘Officials with the Forest Hill Police Department said Moore went too far with her discipline, causing bleeding and leaving marks on the boy's thighs, forearms, hands, torso and back.’

I haven’t found the verdict in this case. North Texas has verdicts on two separate Erica Moores; one did a month for drunk driving in 2003 and the other was a junkie and had six kids taken away in 2022. Either or neither could be this one.

Walking in on a closed door? Wasn't it closed for a reason? It's not like he missed dinner and you wondered if he was home or alive, apparently. So instead of deserving privacy, he deserved beatings? It's impossible to have a discussion with a fifteen years old without resorting to violence? He's apparently a better person for not fighting back... How do we know if the stated reason was true anyway? It was a trial for a beating, not a trial for sex. And the stated concern is homosexuality, instead of if it was consensual? If it was not, the victim not only gets abused but also beaten. That's godly justice?

At least parenting classes was part of the sentence. Something that must be lacking in settings where girls end up pregnant and married without proper education or life experience...

Despite the fact that it was physical abuse, I'm not convinced that #psycho fits...
