[on Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori]

Those who dissented from the Episcopal hierarchy were speaking of the actions of the PB as being against both the canons and constitutions of the [Episcopal Church] and thus illegal.

(on this blog we never refer to a woman as a "bishop" nor "priest"- this is a rule henceforth and forever more- but I will leave the "B" in place as the Episcopal church has yet to put the "b" in a kennel)

Well, the fact that this person installed Justin Welby as Archbishop of Canterbury: who is the leading figure in all of Protestant Christianity (with now King Charles III as head of the Church of England)...:

She was the first woman to be the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the highest ranked Bishop in their church and a rough equivalent to the Archbishop of Canterbury in the UK. It seems she retired from that role in 2015 though.

Now, I may not be as familiar with the Episcopal Church as others here (so feel free to correct me if I make a mistake), but what is it with most monotheistic religions and their overall misogyny anyway? I just don’t get it.

The episcopal church (called the Anglican Church in England) was started by Henry the 8th and I forgot the names of the other people right now but anyway… the entire intention was to allow Henry to divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. So it’s very beginnings are questionable to say the least. Otherwise, it doesn’t have a lot different from the Catholic Church.

It’s amazing - as sexist as Catholicism became, Lutheranism and Calvinism were started because it wasn’t sexist enough. They thought the Catholic acknowledgment of Mary was a terrible thing and she shouldn’t even be discussed. To them, she was just a womb basically, possibly even chosen at random.

Oh, wow, another big dick being dickish. She IS a bishop and you have nothing to do with that decision, but you’ll still refuse the minimum courtesy of her title. Big surprise.
Probably a similar reaction to the first woman President, calling her the VERY First Lady instead of prez…

Yep, like they see all women! I mean, of course the fetus is more important. It might be a boy after all!

I hope his newlyfound Orthodox faith fit him; I would also advise him Mount Athos, but as it was consecrated to the Theotokos, he might disagree.

I'm guessing it's because they formed in times where misogyny was widespread and perfectly acceptable and they haven't updated to get rid of that.

The Epiacopal Church was part of the Anglican Church but broke away due to the American War of Independence (the Church of England was the national church of Great Britain so that's why). Due to recent politics, the church became more conservative due to the influence of evangelists, much like the Roman Catholic Church in the US.
