Ah yes, cause "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" and all that jazz.
Have you murderous assholes ever figured that your "Christians actively working against Christ's teachings" mentality might be one of the main reasons people don't respect you all and you're actively losing members?

Yeaaaaaaaaah. The country is only founded with the principle of religius freedom right at the front of everyone’s mind.
But the concept of anyone, anywhere, doing anything besides glorify your skybuddy offends you, so burn them alive.
Fuck off, traitor.

…for barbecues to celebrate not only the Freedom of Religion guaranteed by the US Constitution, but the laws based on such which denies you of your right to do what you want to those not exactly like you.
Burning with impotent rage at how you’ll never be able to do so, Joe? Keep S E E T H I N G.

The problem is that fundie Christians have a different interpretation of the words “religious freedom” than most people. It’s based on their belief that the US was founded as a Christian nation - they think religious freedom means the freedom to act on their religion. It’s why they believe that their rights are being violated when they can’t use schools to force all kids to pray to the Christian god, or put monuments with the Ten Commandments on them on government property. It’s why they don’t understand that they can’t try to forcibly convert their coworkers. It’s why they consider “Happy Holidays” to be a violation of their rights.
That's not a part of history we want to reenact, in the 21st Century. Essentially it was a religious dispute, old religion v the new Christianity. But burning is such a horrendous death! Hanging witches in England and at Salem was a little less barbaric.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
