I seem to recall hearing about several eyewitness reports coming from British citizens who were living in Nanking at the time of the Japanese attack an subsequent occupation of Nanking....

Also; Why is it so hard to admit that a country you like did terrible stuff in the past?

I’m a proud, patriotic American but even I have no problem admitting that my nation was built of genocide and slavery, has a history of bigotry (despite all it’s professed ideals of freedom & equality for all), has pulled a lot of shady crap with other countries (meddling in other’s wars, overthrowing democratically-elected leaders and installing tyrants, extra-judicial torture, abusing and even killing protesters back home, COINTELPRO, the HUAC, etc.) and generally hasn’t always been the “good guy country”.

If I can do that; Why can’t the Turks and Japanese admit that they did crap like genocides and war crimes?!
