I don’t know if the jury’s in on whether he may have been afflicted with sociopathy or the above was all more mundane than that. Although the love-hate relationship he had towards England is interesting on its own (does Mr. Stratocrat know about him being half-Angle?). I certainly wonder what Hitler’s own view of Wilhelm II was (Bastethotep? Checkmate? Other Germans or Austrians here?).

EDIT: Well, found out the etymology of Melvin. It’s a Scots variant of the Norman Melville, meaning “bad town”. The “mel” part fits him well enough, at least…

Wilhelm II didn’t do anything to earn his position, he was born with it. The only thing special about him was the chance of his birth. If he had been born into a normal working class proletariat family, he never would have gotten past being a poorly educated ditch digger. Any time spent analyzing his “greatness” is a total waste. The only thing that allowed his aloof arrogance and conceit of grandeur was his birth “right”, which was exposed as total bullshit and ended when Philipp Scheidemann stood at an open window in 1918 and told him to go fuck himself. He quickly went from Kaiser to nobody. Stripped of his power as Kaiser he showed himself for what he really was: nothing.

ETA: some nobles do end up rising to the occasion and do their job, but in the case of Wilhelm II, if it hadn’t been for WW I (much of which was his fault) and his abdication, we wouldn’t be talking about him.

Yes, I was just adding information. Now, it’s well known that Hitler despised the aristocracy and avoided them as much as he could. That was also one of his main problems with the officers’ corps of the Wehrmacht, especially the generals. He thought they were stuck up, arrogant birth right assholes (which they were), and they viewed him as an uneducated, uncultured, bothersome proletariat piece of trash they had to put up with (which he was).

When Germany occupied Holland in May 1940, Wilhelm II thought he would be freed and restored. Neither happened. Hitler totally ignored him and kept him under house arrest. For Wilhelm II, Hitler was an uppity nothing, a slum dog piece of crap, part of the (in his view) degeneracy that had taken hold of Germany and had denied him of his god given right (deo gratia) to be the sovereign.

The Anglo-Saxons haven’t been a separate race since the 12th century so you’re way behind on that account. Not sure if the same is true of Celts or not.
