“Even in atheist fever swamps, the belief that the natural occurrence of an act justifies the intentional commission of an act has rarely if ever been accepted.”
And more to the point, this isn’t the argument.
As an atheist -I- think miscarriages happen because biology is imperfect.
YOU however, believe that a perfect, omniscient, and omnipotent being values all life. Spontaneous miscarriage disproves this.
Seriously. Or, God’s a dickhole.
GOD: I value all babies! I choose each baby on a soul-by-soul basis to give them their perfect parents.
Woman: I just lost the baby. The baby I wanted.
God: Well, this shit happens. Just try again.
GOD: I value all babies!
Woman: I have an ectopic pregnancy. Either i get an abortion or we both die.
God: Well, sucks to be your kid, I guess.
GOD: I value all babies!
Woman: I have cancer. Untreated, I’ll probably die a month after I give birth. The treatment, though, will kill the fetus.
GOD: Cross your fingers and pray. MAYBE I’ll send a miracle.
Woman: If you intend to interfere, then why didn’t you stop me from getting cancer in the first place? Or stop me getting pregnant?
God: Um, is that the time? I’m needed at a football game to choose the winners.
