"Congress is again attempting to make it permanent.”
Congress or Dipshit?
“If made law, there will be no more falling back and springing forward on the calendar.”
Which i believe most of us could live with… Lord knows I got tired of quartermasters trying to put the Zulu Time clocks an hour ahead or behind…
“ …and languish in the morning darkness.”
We, uh, we have lights. In the garage, on the driveway… Not a lot of languishing…
"I believe that the nature of creation demands a certain respect for the natural rhythms of things.”
Um, daylight alone is a natural rhythm. The 24-hour clock is not natural. We can peg the clock to sunup, sundown, noon…
"There should be natural markers that precisely designate the maximum extent of light and darkness, called noon and midnight, respectively.”
That’s just sun overhead and halfway to the next sun overhead. The amount of light doesn’t change noon or midnight. Notably, if you go far enough north, it’s dark at noon at one time of the year, and light at midnight
“Defined times become full of symbolism and meaning. Time metaphors are powerful and poetic expressions that reflect a higher-ordered reality.”
Huh? Winter on the Hunley, in Scotland, we moved Colors from 0800 in the morning to 0900 since sunrise was so late. Then they wouldn’t move it again so they would hold ‘morning’ colors in the dark at 0900.
“When we mess with time, we lose touch with this higher reality.”
Right NOW, they change the clocks twice a year, so you should support this change, unless you’re just psychotically afraid of chagne…
"Making time permanently relative, even by a single hour, sends a message that we determine what time is.
Are you under the impression that God gave clocks to Moses or something?
“Growing up, we always referred to standard solar time as God’s time.”
Then you grew up stupid.
"At least the clock-setting rituals reminded us that God is the owner of time.”
Yeah, I’ll buy ‘it confuses the cows’ as an excuse faster than ‘my superstition needs clock change!
“I know it might seem like a minor issue,”
Yes, you are being childish.
“These issues leave me unsettled. It is best not to fool with God’s time.”
As long as they pass the plate at every service, I don’t think God’s going to care…
