Just a reminder that Democrats say Voter ID is racist.
Translation of what they’re saying; they think minorities aren’t smart enough to know how to get an ID.

Liar.
What we say (backed by evidence) is that Republicans keep making ID harder to get for Black people: high prices, unnecessary documentation requirements, opening offices only when and where it's convenient for White people.
Example: Couple years ago Alabama closed 15 driver's license offices - you know, the primary form of voter ID.
Every one of them "just happened" to be in a Black-majority district. Not a single office in a White neighborhood was closed.

Americans also have this strange fear of the Feds possibly tracking them down that makes them reject a US-wide standard ID system, so every state has its own identification requirements. I would imagine Dems would be okay with Voter ID requirements if a standard list of IDs could be agreed on, but the Repubs would never go for that; they want to be able to manipulate the ID requirements in various states to prevent voting from people they don’t want voting.
“Just a reminder that Democrats say Voter ID is racist.”
Not quite true. The way red states implement or want to implement voter ID, however, is pretty racist.
A state had a study done and found that voter id requirements DID impact minorities much more than whites…And implemented the top impacting options.
So, we make school a requirement, and cops will drag truants in.
We make ID a requirement, but there are no provisions for ensuring that voters have plenty of opportunities to get one.
In Australia it’s compulsory to vote. Here in Britain it’s compulsory to be on the Electoral Register. Just the latter introduced in the US would be enough to ensure the Repubicans would never get in again.
Speaking as someone in Britain who has always voted as I’ve had polling cards posted to me weeks before any election: precisely because of being on that Electoral Register as I have to be, how would a national voter registry database in the US harm me , Benny…?!
Republican Voter ID initiatives are never accompanied by the issuance of a free government recognized ID that cannot simply be taken away on a whim. As it stands all forms of acceptable ID are costly to acquire which represents what is essentially an additional tax, which conservatives supposedly hate on principle, and can be taken away with no justification whatsoever at any moment. White people are encouraged to assert their rights and refuse to hand over or divulge anything whether it’s their ID, name, or “business” being in a public area if stopped by police. Everyone else is supposed to be glad they aren’t summarily shot and could frankly be told to hand over their wallets, car, and deed to their home while any complaint about such is met with cries to get the fuck out of the country if they don’t like it.
The already unconstitutional “stop-and-frisk” policies, a violation of basic civil and American constitutional rights that is somehow treated with less dignity than flipouts over being told to wear a mask in the middle of a pandemic, are a frequent problem. Police simply padding their performance or being subjected to unlawful quotas by their superiors - another problem this one negatively impacting the police themselves that does not go addressed even by those who “back the blue” - and targetting people who are basically seen as more likely to be up to something by default and never need to justify shit is a self-perpetuating cycle because stopping those people more frequently and without consequences feed back into that perception making their rights easier to ignore still. Deliberately ramping up arbitrary stop and seizures for political brownie points is an old Republican standby to look tough on crime (as opposed to addressing root cause preventing actual crimes from happening) and is a two-for-one look good to my voters and fuck you probable Democrat miniorities power move stripping the very people being victimized of their ability to vote out the people who use them for this disgusting theatre.
It’s been explained thoroughly several times. If you can’t wrap your head around it you’re an idiot trying to mouth off about common sense you lack. But it’s more likely you DO know and just prefer the lie because it gives you an edge and the negative consequences are suffered by people you already don’t care for. Another 2 for 1 scumbag special.
I can't say whether it was racist but in 1997, after family vacation, was only time I used my ID as to register to vote. Have not shown since late August 97. Even when I voted first time. Just sayin. Oh, I'm white.
Confused?
