Today is Charles Darwin's birthday, and we're looking at his background. If Charles Darwin had even an ounce of the understanding of genetics that we have today, all of his ideas and publications would have been considered invalid.

AiG is right, to a point. Darwin wouldn't have needed to come up with his theory if our science was more advanced and already confirmed evolution. Other scientists would have discovered it, and maybe given it a different name.
If Darwin's work was nonsense, any and all medical and genetic research since then would bear that out, simply by anything derived from his studies just plain old not working. Since that hasn't been the case so far…
(realizes that it's AiG and expecting them to have the mental capacity for extrapolation is a fool's endeavor.)
…*Sigh!* Since the work derived from Darwin's writings do in fact work, we can then extrapolate that Darwin was correct in at least the basics of his theories.

Indeed, just like a new synthesis was needed to account for the discovery of the genetic code later, then of course, while Darwin is notable for The Origin of Species, it wasn't only his personal ideas. Like you said, if it wasn't him, other people would eventually have done the same. It was inevitable by studying nature without blinding taboos...
What will your legacy be, compared to he, o AiG?:

The latter’s relevant: certainly to one such as you, if slightly more brave about your ‘Belie fs’ re. the Sentinelese.
John Allen Chau’s still-unrecovered remains remain on that part of the Andaman Islands - unlike the above buried & memorialised with all the due respect such a researcher whose discoveries further changed the world via messrs Watson & Crick: Nobel Prize winners who ultimately proved him right, deserve - prove that it’s not just another Christain’s opinions that received a Darwin Award.
Who is the more valid…?!
Confused?
