Robert E Lee hated the idea of monuments to the war, the Confederacy was a spectacularly failed business venture headed by complete idiots who cared nothing for the peasants who couldn’t inherit a workforce and profoundly overestimated their leverage, from the Reconstruction right to present day every effort has been made at the highest levels of government to accommodate southern resentment and assure assholes like you that you are very clearly a favoured class of citizen compared to freed slaves and their descendants even if they go to spill their own blood in war while you stay home claiming bone spurs or somesuch and wank to literal traitors, and your love of revisionist history is so great you will rewrite what has happened before your eyes in your own lifetime - in the living memory of your last pet goldfish - rather than own up to the facts.
You realize by trying to equate the fear of police brutality - brutality that’s grown impossible to deny being caught on camera and even directed against journalists - with a hatred of white people you’re essentially stating you expect police to ONLY look out for white interests and suppress everyone else the actual law be damned, don’t you?
Or maybe I’m demanding a touch more awareness than you’re capable of, seeing as you find a noose around the statue’s neck a greater indignity than the long, horrifying, well-documented history of lynchings for charges like “seeking to outrage” a white person. In other words: outright handwaved murder because a white guy got mad and felt like it, and often times this turned into a disgusting public spectacle children were dragged to and indignities visited upon the body not the least of which would be having strips of flesh torn off as souvenirs in an act you’d think would be restricted to fiction about savage cannibal tribes. But no, that’s how “civilized” white people acted back in the day.
