I think if Charles had written the Origin of Species he’d of done it in a hurry, it wasnt his first book, he never hesitated on them.

Many of the people he was in correspondence with were in a rush to get Britain to follow India’s religious belief as British Science. So there was an urgency to publish.

20 years is more than long enough for someone to write the Origin of Species, and attribute it to someone who wasnt physically or mentally capable of writing the book in that condition.

And he was extremely diligent, committed to making as solid a case as possible, including many lines of evidence and anticipated and discussed many possible objection (notably, Creationists, lacking amy kind of imagination or intellectual honesty, make those exact objections anyways and indeed love to quotemine the introductions of these passages as admissions of evolution’s impossibility, ignoring the rest of the passage where Darwin explained it…).

Actually, Darwin’s social anxiety and chronic physical illness were, in their own twisted way, aided his scientific work by holding him to extremely high standards of publication and by forcing him away from the outside world do focus on his studies. In any case, severe as they were, they were not so severe that Darwin would not have been able to write at all.
