Was this pandemic created to usher in Universal Healthcare?
By the end of this it would be easy. They could say, see, look how overwhelmed and under prepared these medical facilities were. If they were government run they would have been stocked up.
Insurance companies will be caught doing their usual BS and as a result people will call for them to be abolished. Thus entering into a perfect situation for the government to take over all healthcare services.
I'm just thinking out loud here.

Totally. Bernie Sanders went to China, swiped the Covid-infected lovechild of Elvis and the Area 51 alien that Obama sold to the Chinese in order to fund his time travel program which resulted in the Kennedy assassination. Then, Bernie squeezed the wheezy tot like a set of bagpipes over one of the myriad goods made in China, which were then sent aaaaaaaaall over the world, just so one piddly fucking country could instill a system whereby if you caught this strange new virus, you wouldn’t have to choose between rent and medicine.
That’s exactly what happened.
Hopefully your grown-up helper will tell you that I’m being sarcastic.

So, just to be clear, you acknowledge that insurance companies are BS, and you also oppose socialized health payment.
So what do you support?

...sorry, OP: what was that again?!
Perhaps we were too loud for you to think: if that's possible for you.

No, it wasn’t created, at all. Next question, please.
Almost all other first world countries (and quite a few second and third world countries as well) have some form of universal healthcare. When you get seriously ill, you call an ambulance, and the healthcare system will take care of you.
In the US, you can’t just call an ambulance, as you might get hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, and leave your children and grandchildren not only with terrible grief and loss, but also with huge debts. Which means people “opt” to die at home instead.
Yes, your government might have the perfect situation, finally, to join all the other First World countries in providing its citizens with BASIC human rights!
That’s a novel way to use the word “thinking”, dearie.
Lemme translate: God, who of course is on the side of the Americans, killed a bunch of Chinese people, Spanish people, Italian people, and, oh yeah,a bunch of Americans too, in order for the survivers to get Medicare for All.
Isn't that God a swell guy? Let's give him a round of clap.

The UK has 8000 ventilators for a population of 66 million.
Italy has 3000 (reported in March) ventilators for a population of 60 million.
Germany has 20000 ventilators for a population of 83 million.
The US has 200000 ventilators for a population of 327 million.
All this based on reports from the mainstream media. Everyone faces major shortages and the US is not a uniquely bad position. There is no evidence whatsoever that “bigger governments” entered this crisis better prepared, most of them are doing a lot worse.
Don’t get me wrong, these are extraordinary circumstances, all governments should ramp up their efforts to save as many as they can, but I’m not holding my breath they’ll achieve much.
Here’s my prediction for the post-corona crisis: We will be living in a more tech-oriented economy and there will be almost no serious discussions (let alone actions) about to how prepare critical infrastructure for say a massive solar flare, which could be the next big crisis.
Confused?
