Theories on why so many areas have empty hospitals during a global pandemic

In many areas, the hospitals are almost completely empty. Everything other than emergency procedures are cancelled. While some hospitals in hard hit areas are getting lots of coronavirus patients, most hospitals are now almost totally empty. Why is this?

The leading theory is that the hospitals are being cleared out to make room for a massive influx of people from something other than coronavirus.

Some think that there is that there will be lots of people freed from human trafficking, and many will need medical or psychological treatment. Variations on this include the idea that there are people being held at secret bases that will be freed, liberation of cloning areas, deep underground military bases, and so on.

What is your theory on the reason for so many empty hospitals?

“Hospital staff cost money; we need to get rid of that cost.”

That’s the reason we had closed wards before this crisis, even though we had long queues to get medical care. The right-wings in charge said that The Market will take care of everything. Funnily enough, now they DON’T talk about The Market; now they are all for “Socialized Medicine”, they just think that our center-left government ought to have done MORE of it, all the time, even though they themselves criticized the government for doing TOO MUCH before the crisis.

Another reason there are empty hospitals, even empty dentist clinics, is that all protective gear is desperately needed in the intensive care units where the corona patients are treated.

Freed from human trafficking? Why? Sure, there might now be less people wanting to risk their own health by visiting sex-slaves, but the slave-owners know that sooner or later, this crisis will be over, and then people might be CRAVING for “release” into a prostitute woman or child, and they want to be ready when that time comes. If anything, some of the slaves might starve to death in captivity, if their owners get sick.

Everything other than emergency procedures are cancelled.

Well for one thing hospitals are banning visitors for the most part. They don't want anyone whose not sick, except professionals to be there so they don't catch Covid 19. That's why it appears emptier then it really is.

Yeah, that's the case with a few private hospitals here, closed down because of no elective surgery. In the public hospitals, however, they're making a LOT of space, for upcoming corona cases.
