Edit: Oh, and as for “saving” the lives of children…you might want to look into the role RFK Jr. played in the 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa, which resulted in scores of children dying from the disease. But I’m not holding my breath that that will dampen your enthusiasm for him; since I didn’t get this info from some random loon on X, I suppose you’ll dismiss it as propaganda from “Big Pharma”. Then again, I might be giving you too much credit in entertaining the possibility that you’d give a damn either way.

There’s a potential silver lining, at least. If the US becomes a nation of disease factories but doesn’t become a banana republic, the next generation is likely going to see a renaissance in medicine towards fixing the permanent health damage and disabilities caused by preventable severe illnesses, which would incidentally provide some benefits to medicine as a whole which would otherwise take longer to develop. Shame about all the people who wouldn’t survive to see that, though.

(I am not intending to suggest that the dark cloud in any way justifies any incidental benefits.)
