One thing Holocaust deniers love doing is selectively presenting the truth and spinning objective fact. It’s true that Auschwitz had these things, but the implication that they somehow prove it wasn’t a death camp is just plain wrong. What Holocaust deniers don’t say is that the swimming pools, orchestras, movie theaters, etc. weren’t for the benefit of the inmates as a whole, they were there for the staff (since many of Auschwitz’s personnel lived there, sometimes with their families) and a select few “privileged” prisoners. And the prisoners who got to enjoy these amenities weren’t necessarily safe: for example, Höss once had half an orchestra killed because he didn't like their interpretation of his favorite marches.
