A White House policy advisor during the Biden administration said that he confronted a top Trump administration official over the decision to kick nearly 1 million people off their health coverage.

Ami Fields-Meyer said that he approached Dr Mehmet Oz on a flight they shared to ask about the decision earlier this week to remove more than 750,000 enrollees from public healthcare exchanges established under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as “Obamacare.”

Fields-Meyer said that he approached Oz politely once they stepped off the jetway.

“What the man in charge of healthcare for the people on the very margins of society said…was revealing,” he wrote.

“I said: ‘Sir, you need to stop kicking hundreds of thousands of people off health insurance just because they are vulnerable. “Not using your insurance” is not a reason to evict someone from their insurance,’” Fields-Meyer posted.

“We were mid-handshake and he pulled me in and grabbed tighter and got upset and raised his voice and said: ‘What are you talking about man?! Those aren’t real people. They’re illegal aliens!’” Fields-Meyer added.
