Women were cutting their hair, wearing short skirts, having fun instead of sitting at home waiting for a man to marry them. As you are the same age as me, these women might have been your grandmothers, or even great-grandmothers. My grandmothers were born in the twenties, so it must have been THEIR mothers that were young adults in the twenties.
