I gotta say I think that might be a BIT of a stretch! My favorite fantasy series is “Xanth” by Piers Anthony…the world of Xanth is basically a “parallel universe” to Earth (or “Mundania” as Xanth residents call it) where pretty much every living thing either has a magic power or just IS magic. There is a “Hell” in Xanth, but it’s part of the “dream world” there. Not necessarily a place where you go because you’re damned. Just ask the Good Magician Humfrey and his 5 and a half wives, who take turns being his wife for a month and then reside happily in Hell for the other five months. (it’s 5 and half because one of them was never his wife before he rescued her from Hell…it’s a weird series, OK? lol)

I remember more than a few sitcoms with a mostly black cast that were pretty highly acclaimed and rated (presumably by white people as much as black people or whoever else). Family Matters, for one. And hello, The Cosby Show? Maybe the person who wrote this is too young to remember that, but that show was HUGE in its time. I watched that every week. (granted, we didn’t know then what we know now about Bill Cosby, but that’s a whole other thing.)

Hmm…those are all 100% things that white immigrants, and for that matter the children of white immigrants, did. My mom’s side of the family, for instance, were French-Canadian. I’m not even aware of just how far back in the past it was that they came here, but my mom always likes to tell stories about my grandma and her sisters having a little too much wine and doing things like singing “O Canada” in French. I also recently read a biography of Gorilla Monsoon, the longtime pro wrestler/commentator, who was I believe was a grandson of Italian immigrants, and there’s stories about him singing Italian opera, and traveling with other wrestlers of Italian descent, and there’d only be one guy in the car who didn’t speak Italian, so he missed out on most of the conversation, lol.

Why, it’s almost like they ARE like the rest of us…(except for one obvious thing)

In my 48+ years of existence, I’ve found that a person’s emotional/mental maturity doesn’t necessarily correspond to their age. I knew people when I was in high school that I found more mature than I think I am right now, really.
