God and Natural Disasters

The world is offended by the thought that God would send natural disasters. Yet, their God allows 40,000 children to die of starvation every 24 hours. He also lets thousands die in earthquakes and hurricanes. The truth is, the concept that a loving God would never allow such things to happen, is a figment of the worlds imagination. The true God warns, "Because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, when your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me."(Proverbs 1:25-28) It is wise for us to therefore fear God, and listen to His counsel.

There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

But seriously though, another perfectly viable explanation is that god does not exist, and natural disasters are just stuff that happens. Or god does exist, yet has better things to do than micromanage a single mudball of barely-intelligent apes slinging shit at each other.

But the idea that a god that goes out of its way to create lethal natural disasters and we should still venerate it as “benevolence incarnate” is just batshit crazy. Hell, in D&D, Talos the Storm God is outright classified as “Chaotic Evil” last time I checked.

Ray Comfort once complained on Facebook that a film (not a good one BTW) made his God sound like an “arrogant spoiled brat”.

I replied “Sorry Ray, but your God is an arrogant spoiled brat.”

He banned me. I wondered if maybe I had been a bit out of order.

The way you describe your deity sounds like one of the worst blasphemies ever uttered, even worse than minced words said during drunkeness and immediately regretted.

Hurricane Katrina. So many churches in Louisiana obliterated, yet the ‘Sinful’ French Quarter in New Orleans was left intact with nary a scratch. So (check one):
