Lol. Their argument is that "trans" is simply another identifier, like "old" or "black". Ok, so what does "trans" mean? It means something which is on the opposite side. "Black woman" and "Old woman" describe the type of woman but "trans woman" literally means "opposite of woman". SO NO FUCKING SHIT nobody thinks they're women! You cannot be both a transwoman and a woman! It's in the name itself!!!

And, any other qualifier would literally point to "male woman". Or, "not female woman". I'm headdesking so much I have a red mark!!!!

Yeah because it's "intersectional". They are extra marginalised because they're women AND they're trans.

Except, they don't understand how venn diagrams work. The circle representing "all trans women" is outside the circle for "women". That's literally what "trans" means. The two circles DO NOT INTERSECT. So screw your intersectionality.

It literally means across. A trans-african language would be one spoken across the continent. Transection, a cut across. The cut transected the torso.

Or movement through. Transfer, transport.

So, someone moving from being assigned ‘male’ to living as ‘female,’ would be accurately described as transgendered.

So in addition to pretending that the science justifies your hate, now you’re lying about the language doing so.

“Trans-” is one of those prefixes which has a very broad meaning (in this case, “across”), subject to many different metaphorical interpretations. I checked my old dictionary, and there are no less than six pages of words starting with it. There are some where the “across” was used in the sense of “on the other side of”, and I suppose that it could potentially be interpreted as “on the opposite side of the gender spectrum” as the OP insists… and I suspect that this *was* the original intent of the word “transsexual” (in 1880), except that they’re missing an important detail: “on the opposite side of the gender spectrum as their physical sex”.

Regardless, “transgender” is not “transsexual”, as it was invented by the LGBTQIA+ community and not by the medical community, so it belongs to them and can be defined however works for trans people’s identities. Just because it sounds like it *should* mean a certain bigoted thing to bigots doesn’t mean their definition reflects reality.
