America was a much better nation back during the Civil War (1861-1865). Every woman wore beautiful long dresses. In the early 1900's all women dressed extremely modestly. What a great time in our nation's families. Feminism has ruined women in America. Today, it is very rare to see a woman wearing a long dress. Vintage women's clothing is so modest and classy. I encourage you ladies to wear vintage dresses. Make it your hobby. Better yet, get a sewing machine and learn as you go how to become a seamstress.

Get some vintage patterns and work at it. I've provided links on the Women's Page to numerous modest clothing places. There's a lot on the web to help you learn the art of being a seamstress. I'll tell you, if there's a need in America today it is for Christian women to inspire, encourage and teach young girls how to dress modestly with class, sew and make their own clothing. It's a great MINISTRY to start in your church ladies!

Somebody just saw a re-run of “Gone with the Wind”. Why does Brother David assume everybody is rich?

GONE WITH THE WIND WAS NOT A DOCUMENTARY and you have to be deranged to think the average woman’s going to just waltz around in an elaborate hoop-skirt! No thanks! I don’t want to wear an impractical gettup with a corset crushing my torso that probably took an hour to put on.

Also; Those elaborate outfits were what the well-off wore. Most folk in the Antebellium South weren’t elegantly attired Ladies & Gents in big gorgeous fancy houses staffed by and surrounded by suffering slaves. Most were poor folks in log cabins named who wore overalls and modest old frocks and works like dogs on farms.

Ex-US Air Force Sergeant, comics writer/artist & Founder of the Anthro. scene Steve Gallacci is a Civil War recreationist: Union soldier's uniform, musket etc. But he still returns to his WWII and retro-Sci-Fi model making.

Should tell you something, that.

Especially the Union forces battles he helps to recreate, no doubt as historical displays for the public.

He made his uniform, equipment etc to look as authentic, nay, historically accurate as possible.

There is a need to remind current & upcoming generations as to what really happened.

Especially the one fact you can't accept: The South lost.

In Jane Austen’s time, around 1812, women wore thin dresses and sometimes wetted them so they would be almost see-through. Some women managed to get themselves bad colds through this behaviour.

There’s no need for Christian women to learn to sew their own dresses. Maybe it’s because I live in the area with the most East African refugees in the USA, but it’s easy for any women to go into one of the Somali-owned malls and buy burkas and chadors. Isn’t that essentially what you want? Personally, I find women in long skirts more erotic, because it’s fun imagining what’s under there.

People killing each other, dying of now easily preventable diseases...but it was all fine because LONG DRESSES?

Because the horrors of the bloodiest war in American history with the evils of slavery and the truly vile things done to freedmen out of resentment happening in the background as family members were forced to kill each other on opposite ends of a battlefield for a cause so indefensibly stupid Southern supremacists have to lie about it in an era where even the previous peace-time where there weren’t shortages of goods from trade blockades death from disease was rampant and poverty among people who didn’t own slave plantations strangled the population and even those who could find and afford things like medicine would be taking cocaine for toothaches and feeding babies heroin for fever are all infinitely preferable to being told to keep it in your pants when a 14 year old walks past in jeans and a t-shirt. Not that forcing her to conform to your personal dress fetish would do anything to keep your “man’s mind” under control, especially as it just reinforces your need to foist your personal accountability and the weight of your sins onto her as you continue to usurp the position of an infallible God beyond the scope of human morality.

Maybe there is one particular relic of the past I’d like brought back. I’m sure a week in stocks to be ridiculed and shamed as a deviant in the public square would put a few things in perspective for the Diddler.
