Future historians will doubtless be fascinated that a secular religion based on group identity led so many on the left to oppose women’s rights and to support the medicalisation and sterilisation of gay children.
For those of us living through it, it’s just depressing.

yeah about that I bet that future Historians are going to be talking about your sides’ in a far more negative light than they will about any notion of “secular religion based on group identity” like you’re spouting, and that’s just from seeing the PAST and how often fuckers like you tend to be on the WRONG side of history… relatively speaking.
Future historians will doubtless be fascinated that a secular personal religion that the adherents called Christianity but in reality was based on group identity led so many on the lef right to oppose women’s rights and to suppor think that transgender meant the medicalisation and sterilisation of gay children.
For those of us living through it, it’s just depressing.
In what kind of alternate reality are you living? Unless you're really bullshitting on purpose, if you're really depressed by that, know that you've just been deceived.
Edit/adding: Here's something more depressing. A Republican who realizes that his party is post-truth and prefers to stick to disinformation despite his efforts and so many hours of efforts trying to make them understand why they are mistaken. A party that is also even purging those who don't also promote the same disinformation or who remained faithful to their duty and were not corrupt enough to claim that election results were rigged when requested to without evidence. Turning Point's manager acknowledging that it's disinformation but that it serves its intended purpose. Non-corrupt Republicans facing harassment and threats to leave politics or join the post-truth nonsense.

Future Historians will chart transgender phobia on a curve. A multi-decade slope of anti-Other reactionary dismissal of science, an anti-intellectualism movement of intolerance and hate. Just slot it right in there with homophobia, biphobia, cross-dressing-phobia, and whatever else is the next distraction.
@Titania
And what he should realise is that Cricket is all but a religion in India & Pakistan.
Which are mainly Hindu & Muslim respectively, OP.
History won't look respectfully at your words this day: least of all here in FSTDT.
Especially as India & Pakistan respect trans rights, Andrew...!
Confused?
