RE: Hungary's Viktor Orban will hold referendum on anti-LGBT law

The comments here are amazing. Actively finding excuses to why democratic participation shouldn't count because X and Y reasons. Having read the questions I understand why. If these same questions were asked in the west the responses would shatter the narrative that the west actually supports this nonsense when it fact it is just a very select group with political power. Apparently this are the questions in the referendum:

Do you support the provision of sexual orientation sessions to minors in public education institutions without parental consent?

Do you support the promotion of sex reassignment therapy to underage children?

Do you support the availability of sex reassignment therapy for underage children?

Do you support the unrestricted exposure of minors to sexually explicit media content that affects their development?

Do you support the showing of sex-change media content?

And before anyone says "that isn't about gay people" the movement is called LGBT so its your own fault for putting it together.

What is that? Telling children that not everyone is opposite-sex attracted?

Isn’t there only the possibility of puberty blockers for trans minors, until they’re of age to determine whether they want to transition?

Is “affects their development” supposed to mean “turning them towards sex-positivity”?

So let’s be clear I’m straight without even a shred of interest in experimentation and I have children. Maybe they will choose a similar relationship model like their parents, it worked for us so why not for them?
But the important thing is that they get to choose and for that they need the option and information. So yes im totally for all of that:

Yes because there are idiots like you that would hinder their children in expressing themselves and experience the world.

Yes of course under the rule of psychological and medical screening. After all it is not as easy as getting a haircut and it shouldn’t be.

Yes see above.

No one is calling for unrestricted access or why are pron sites for over 18 only? But yes I would be for showing minors explicit content under the watch or official teachers or something similar if it is for education purposes

So long as it is not to graphic (because that could be bad for the more sensible children) yes

No. Well, that may be the case in some places, as I can't say I know much about how transitions are handled in most non-US countries. However, as far as I understand it, it's not uncommon to begin "cross-sex" hormone treatments on older trans teenagers who are still technically minors.

I’m sure most persons know this law will be used to persecute LGBT for the “crime” of existing.

‘Are you illiterate enough to be led by this referendum's dumb leading questions…?!

The way these are presented is loaded and for fear mongering effect, obviously. People who are not aware of what is actual practice will see much more into these. A perfect example is: "sexually explicit media content that affects their development", which implies that there's material designed to affect their development and that it would be explicit, suggesting porn, as well as presented for the claimed purpose. It suggests a conspiracy theory that has little to do with actual education.
