I agree, but this is the same guy that created Mr. Popo. I doubt he knows how to properly portray a Black pperson. Thus my point about learning vs. not trying. I'm not excusing him (assuming he really did say this.)

Sadly, most portrayals of Black people I've seen in anime are worse than if there had been no Black characters at all. There's something to be said about sticking to writing what you know.

Of course… making the effort to learn would be far better than not trying at all.

I'm really beginning to question whether or not this whole “United States” thing was a good idea. I mean the part about each state getting to make their own laws and such. I mostly only hear it come up when red states want to oppress someone, and very rarely, when blue states want to create sanctuaries for people to escape persecution (primarily by laws passed when Republicans are in charge.)
