on this entire tract:
- That “Noah’s offspring” built Babylon could be right with the assumption that we live in Chick-land where everyone is a descendant of Noah, but it’s more likely he means close descendants. If I am correct about that, then that doesn’t make much sense as Babylon was built inside the already existing empire of Akkadia. And this is the most sane thing on this list…
- He repeats over and over again that Baal was a sun god worshipped in Babylon. Baal was a thing in the Levant (northwestern Middle East) according to both historical evidence and his Bible, and Baal was worshipped more as a god of weather and fertility.
- The entire thing about Ancient Egypt. Numero uno: it existed long, long before Babylon’s construction. Numero dos: Anyone who does any amount of research knows that Ra is the ancient Egyptian sun god and that Osiris is the Egyptian king of the dead. Numero tres: AFAIK there was no real ritual involving unleavened bread in the ancient Egyptian mythos. There was for sure no ritual involving eating Osiris’ flesh. He just made this up so he could point and cry “See! The catholic church is so similar to this thing I made up for the purpose of being similar to the catholic church!” Numero cuatro: The chi-rho (☧) symbol on the wall is not sneaking by me. While it was used in that period, it wasn’t use for any real religious purpose at least until the time of the Ptolemies.
- Ancient Egypt did not use the Latin alphabet. This is so painfully obvious that it hurts to have to explain this.
After that I ran out of characters, but the tract continues as all Chick tracts have 24 pages. After comes even more nonsense leading up to the shocking conclusion that (who else) Old Scratch is behind it all, as part of his conspiracy to portray Jesus as a dead savior! And it’s all sprinkled with quotes from the KJV because it’s the belief of the people behind Chick Tracts that the KJV is the only correct holy book and that all other holy books or translations of the Bible are lies manufactured by Satan or his global conspiracy.
Also, I am not naming the author because I am unsure whether this was written before or after the passing of the original author Jack T. Chick.
