Political correctness to destroy Hollywood's reputation one day

The hashtag "how serious is the involution in Hollywood due to political correctness" began trending on Chinese social media on Monday. British writer J. K. Rowling's recent suffering, Disney's live action Snow White, the gay superhero in Marvel films… The batch of operations for political correctness in Hollywood has been satirized by many Chinese netizens, and if Hollywood continues down this road, it will dig its own grave and destroy its reputation one day.

The newest "joke" for most Chinese netizens came after Rowling did not appear for celebrations at the 20th anniversary of the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Yes, this is ironic: a writer who created the great IP was expelled by those who adapted her work. But HBO Max still insisted on not inviting the writer out of fear of being criticized for not obeying the rule of "political correctness."

Another series of changes that made most Chinese netizens' jaws drop is that the live action adaptations of Disney's classic works The Little Mermaid and Snow White have changed the protagonists from "white" to "black" and "Latino mixedrace." The more interesting part is that Gal Gadot, the bewitching woman who is in line with the beauty of white people, is going to play the evil queen in Snow White. Don't you think the picture might be really weird?

The recently released Eternals shows Marvel Studio's first gay superhero kiss. However, this brave attempt did not help Marvel win big at the box office at the worldwide film market. Many countries have banned the release of Eternals.

They made the decision not to achieve a better performance both in reputation and market, but mainly due to political correctness.

Look at the 2020's Oscars, even many filmmakers and media from the West started to mock the Academy Awards as becoming too "political correct."

New York Post wrote the article "political correctness at 2020 Oscars exposes Hollywood's hypocrisy."

Floods in Europe end myth of West's governance

From the Texas power outages in February to the condo collapse in Florida in June, to the floods in Germany, a series of devastating disasters this year have proven that there are serious shortcomings in Western countries' mechanisms in responding to natural disasters.

In fact, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been signs showing that Western governance is failing.

In the face of disasters the central government needs to play a strong role. But Western society has found that it cannot do so.

There is a very serious problem of decentralization in the West. The West attaches importance to local, individual, and non-governmental factors in society. When a disaster occurs at the local level, it needs to be solved by the local authorities first because the central government is not able to intervene in time. In the West, it's almost a tradition for people to oppose the government.

In contrast to the West, China has demonstrated its great advantages in governance in recent years, whether facing COVID-19 or natural disasters. China has a powerful central government and ruling party. Moreover, the Chinese people have a strong sense of trust in the government. The interaction between people and the government is seamless - even when disasters occur.

As Russian scholar Gevorg Mirzayan commented in a recent article, "Western elites understand that while they are playing at democracy, the countries with a real order (for instance, China) are marching ahead orderly, bypassing Europe and the US at the twists and turns of history."

The West has always believed that its governance model is superior. But its inability to handle various disasters has revealed its governance flaws. The governance of other countries cannot stop developing just because the West is facing governance chaos.

Times have changed. The West should humbly learn from the experiences of other countries in terms of political methodology.

Governance, organization ability protect Chinese people in face of extreme weather

"China's first strength is its 'whole nation system.' As long as the government mobilizes, it will soon get the response of departments at all levels," Yu Shaoxiang, chief research fellow with the National Institute of Social Development at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told Global Times on Thursday.

"The Chinese concept of collectivism has also played a very important part in it," said Yu. Chinese people have always had a selfless spirit of sacrificing individual interests for the public good. Chinese people advocate that personal interests are subordinate to the interests of society and the country. Every time a natural disaster happens, there is mutual assistance among people. When disaster strikes, help comes from all sides.

In the face of the heavy rainfall in Henan, China has responded promptly. The People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police Force were quickly mobilized and deployed to the most dangerous areas. Measures, including flood diversions, were adopted in time to effectively reduce some disaster risks. This ability to mobilize and immediately respond is largely due to the advantages of China's political system.

But in the US, federal aid only comes after a request from state governments. If the state government didn't ask the federal government for help, the latter is not allowed to send any rescue personnel to give a helping hand. In addition, due to political party struggles in the US, there are often debates before taking actions. These can delay the optimal timing for rescue operations.

Western countries emphasize individualism and liberalism. They are individual-centered and care less about collective interests. This being the case, during the COVID-19 pandemic some even refused to wear face masks, the basic measure to protect oneself. This does not bode well for their countries' response to public emergency.

RE: Brutality against indigenous people embedded in Anglo-Saxons' DNA

(Zhao Lei)
Agreed. Many Anglo Saxons people that i met & observed are very dishonest, two-faced, having a mentality of pot calling kettle black, shamelessly giving false accusations.......... They will do anything for attention, fame, money and Ferraris, so on and so forth.

(piggy)
The Whites, especially those leading mass murderers of America, are racist to the core. They willfully practiced, racist policy to this very day. Their only concern is not to be caught out in their hypocrisy. They use their mass media to whitewash their genocidal actions by means of subtle twisted and slant analysis and interpretation of events. They employed numerous agents in mass social media like twitter, facebook, youtube, instagram etc to influence and convince their readers. Their effectiveness can be seen by the support for their numerous wars, sabotage, insurrections and varied 'colour' revolutions past and ongoing in the world. Vigilance must be practice at all times for such disinformation and misinformation.

Five Eyes today’s axis of white supremacy: Global Times editorial

Canada, the UK and Australia, three members of the Five Eyes alliance, have recently taken action to put pressure on China. They have formed a US-centered, racist, and mafia-styled community, willfully and arrogantly provoking China and trying to consolidate their hegemony as all gangsters do. They are becoming a racist axis aimed at stifling the development rights of 1.4 billion Chinese.

Five Eyes alliance members are all English-speaking countries. Those countries share the Anglo-Saxon civilization. The Five Eyes countries have been brought together by the US to become the "center of the West." They have a strong sense of civilization superiority. The bloc, which was initially aimed at intelligence sharing, has now become an organization targeting China and Russia. The evil idea of racism has been fermenting consciously or unconsciously in their clashes with the two countries.

With a common language, a common historical background, and a coordinated attack target, such an axis is destined to erode international relations and allow hooliganism to rise to the diplomatic stage in the 21st century. Since the Five Eyes countries are spread across continents, they have the hubris of being the world in their own right. Media organizations in the US and the UK are particularly developed and capable of dominating global public opinion in English, which increases their insolence to represent the international community and world public opinion.

The Trump administration is an extremely typical white supremacy government. Trump's team has gone, but the mechanism of the Five Eyes alliance to suppress China has solidified, accelerated its operations. Global diplomacy must not be hijacked by a fake international community with an axis of white supremacy. By resisting them, China is not only defending its own interests, we are also defending the diversity of the modern world, which is based on the free choices of people and paths taken by different countries.

RE: Five Eyes today’s axis of white supremacy

The Anglo Saxons fought a race war against Muslims during war on terror and later another race war against Russia. Now they are starting a new race war against China. We can see more racist attacks on Chinese inside America. It is time to rally all the forces targeted by the Anglo Saxons and fight back. The racist agenda of the Anglo Saxons in suppressing China is obvious. It is time for China to lead global campaign to fight back against the racist propaganda attacks of the Anglo Saxons.

Skin color alone disqualifies India from being a part of the pact.Yet, they are ever so willing to let their white masters use an abuse them. Ironic! Only Indians think the world revolves around them. Must be something to do with the cow pee.

That's why no one respects India.

If the anglo saxons continues to use human rights and democracy to attack, suppress, curb and contain China, I think China will have to fight back by launching global anti racism campaign along with Russia, muslim, Latin America and African states.

Fight back hard.

Have Western media given up duty of objective reporting?

Time magazine recently published an article about Mihrigul Tursun, a Uyghur woman who claimed she came from a Xinjiang vocational training center, and tweeted a video clip of her testimony of alleged torture with tears and sobs.

I did an experiment: Sending the link to ordinary Chinese I know. Most of them laughed when they heard Tursun's testimony. "It's nonsense," was their first reaction. Why did they react this way? The question should be left for editors from Time magazine to answer. If they treated her testimony more skeptically, figured out how outdated was the language she used and whether her remarks were reasonable, then the magazine wouldn't have made such a fool of itself. China has made enough explanation. But those editors are still unimaginably ignorant of China. Will more explanation work?

Similar reports and interviews with Tursun can be found in many other Western media outlets. Western media love her, as if they hit the jackpot and finally seized the testimony of a witness to attack China, while being so indifferent to all the loopholes in her words.

Some foreigners buy Tursun's stories as they have a severe misunderstanding of China which stems from ignorance. Quite a few Westerners still believe that China is generally an underdeveloped country where its people work in sweatshops and have very little freedom. Does China have cars? Does China have electricity? Do Chinese love freedom? These are the tip of the iceberg of questions raised on the Quora question-and-answer website in 2017.

It is supposed to be the mainstream media's responsibility to answer these questions with objective and comprehensive information. Sadly, editors from Time have no basic knowledge of China and they have become the creators and spreaders of rumors.

Their mind-set is still stuck in the Cultural Revolution. Before publishing relevant articles, they might have hardly had any chance to actually visit China or talk to a real Chinese. How can people trust their reports?

Tursun's stories alike are hardly new. It happened more than once that the testimonies given before the US Congress were found to be false with fabricated stories. The purpose was to support US political and military actions.

It is unfortunate to see Time magazine, which enjoys an influential readership among US intellectuals, degenerating into one of the media that focuses more on selling eye-catching, groundless stories rather than proven facts.

At least these reports showed some insights into the US perception of China. Why did the trade war occur? Why are there always radical thoughts against China in the US? Why is there constant untrue speculation about the number of Muslims who have been sent to vocational training centers, which can be 1 million today or 2 million tomorrow? One can't help but wonder if the Western media have given up their responsibility to objective reporting.

Lessons of Brazil not applicable to China

The New York Times has recently been bringing out a series of articles about China. The latest commentary by Bret Stephens has a striking headline - "The Real China Challenge: Managing Its Decline." This seemingly analytical article uses Brazil as a comparison to China, which exposes the writer's shocking ignorance about Chinese people's culture.

In the article, Stephens writes: In 2009, The Economist wrote about an up-and-coming global power: Brazil. Its economy, the magazine suggested, would soon overtake that of France or the UK as the world's fifth largest. However, the rocket never reached orbit. Brazil's economy is now limping its way out of the worst recession in its history. "The murder rate - 175 people per day in 2017 - is at a record high." The author then concludes that those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first tout as countries of the future. And the rise of China will finally not materialize because of its similarity with Brazil.

The author appears to be triumphant in giving the description since he has found a perfect reference to comment on China's development. I stayed in Brazil for three years and well understand why the Brazilian economy has weakened and why China's would be different. To be honest, Brazil does not compare well with China and thus the argument in the article is feeble and poor.

Perhaps the Brazilians and the author believe in the same god, but that's definitely not the one that Chinese believe in. The god mentioned by Stephens is not functional for China because it doesn't even exist in the belief system of the Chinese people.

Indeed, Brazil never had a strong and sophisticated manufacturing industry. But the basic question is: Why has China achieved industrialization while Brazil has abandoned it and moved in the opposite direction? This is not entirely a matter of economy or institution, but one of culture.

I've been working in Europe, the US, Asia and South America for nearly 20 years. My experience says whether a country can achieve industrialization depends on many factors, culture being the most important. It includes how people view their work, family, children's education and wealth accumulation.

It may sound racist to differentiate development based on culture. But after living in Brazil for a while, you will find out the answer. Brazilians are not willing to be as diligent and hard working as the Chinese. Neither do they value savings for the next generation, like the Chinese do. Yet they demand the same welfare and benefits as those in developed countries.

The fundamental difference between Brazil and China lies in that the culture of Brazil makes the country unsuitable for manufacturing. Lack of manufacturing can't lead to industrialization and finally makes sustainable development impossible. As a result, the economy of Brazil only depends on export of raw materials and bulk commodities. In other words, abundant resources have limited the development of manufacturing in Brazil.

Whether the Brazilian economy can achieve sustainable development depends partly on institutions, but more importantly on the local cultural tradition. Stephens made a basic mistake: Since he doesn't analyze the prospects of development of a country based on full knowledge of its culture and tradition, his judgment is faulty.

China's development has problems and challenges. Since the reform and opening-up, it is Chinese cultural tradition that has held up against economic fluctuations. Eventually, the performance of Chinese economy has formed a rising curve, not a descending one because China can always find solutions amid fluctuations.

Chinese people have huge potential for pursuing family and personal happiness. Now the question before China is how to give a full play to such potential, not produce it. The reform and opening-up has been a process of releasing the potential of Chinese people. More importantly, the process is irreversible.

China is such a big country that it would be generalizing to cite one example to prove that its prospects are bleak. Likewise, it is also unfair when you equal the prospect of a developed region to that of entire China. If you want to learn about China's future, you must know how Chinese people learn, work and live. Any analysis of China's future should not be divorced from this.

A self-proclaimed “ghostbuster” was arrested in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province after he charged a young woman 20,000 yuan ($3,279) to exorcise the ghosts in her vagina with his penis.

Police arrested Huang Jianjun on August 1 after the woman, A Xin, called police one day after having sex with Huang, reported the Southern Metropolis Daily.

A Xin, a spice shop employee, consulted Huang after hearing he could advise her how to attract her boss, whom she had a crush on.

The two agreed to meet at a hotel room, where Huang asked her to strip naked and lay on the bed for an examination.

Huang then convinced A Xin to have intercourse after explaining that ghosts in her vagina are preventing her boss from falling in love with her - ghosts he could only catch with his penis. Huang explained that he had sacrificed his virginity for the exorcism.

Huang later told authorities he had long lost the ability to have an erection due to diabetes.

"American children read fairy tales such as Snow White with white male heroes; the trend continues.. in Hollywood"

This is crazy, why shouldn't white kids read about white heroes? Or do chinese parents read to their kids about Chinese or European heroes? I bet they read about Chinese characters. It's about healthy self-esteem, which is not our problem.

So you travel to Asia and want to date white men? Hmm... White expats go to these more traditional parts of the world to escape women like you. Of course they'd rather spend their time with fine, pleasant, feminine women than a shrill, entitled, feminist typist like yourself. Maybe you should take a note or two from how these sweet Chinese girls act and treat the men you desire, and how men treat you instead of expecting the world around you to change to your liking.

Men don't care about your career, your college degree, how well traveled you are, how much of a "foodie" you are or how you can "pull off" a pixie cut. They like sweet, submissive, feminine, domesticated women who are pleasant and accommodating. Also, if you want to date white men who will put up with your personality, go back to Canada.
