Yup! These types are all about the ol’ MAH-CHEESE-MO. They fetishize toughness, sociopathy, violence, brutality, cruelty, etc. They hate diplomacy, using sanctions, “talking things out”, cooperation, empathy, kindness, etc.
They’re power - hungry bullies who worship a Bizarro-Jesus who embodies solely the most brutish aspects of the Hebrew Testament Deity (or rather, the Demiurgic elements). Their “Jesus” is Yeshuah Bar-Abbas rather than Yeshuah Bar-Yosef / Miryam.
[NOTE: I think the bit in the Passion narrative concerning “Barabbas” symbolized believers choosing “another Jesus” who preferred violence and mayhem over peace and diplomacy. “Bar-Abbas” means “son of the father” whereas Jesus of Nazareth is considered “Son of The Father” and both were named “Jesus / Yeshuah”.]
Christianity isn’t a faith to these chunkheads; it’s a means to worldly power and dominance. They don’t give a damn about the Nazarene’s mostly - pacifist teachings and SJW ways. They only like him due to seeing blood atonement as a “Get out of Hell free” card.

The Democratic Party and many Progressives count a bunch of Church - going Christians among them. Biden and Pelosi are both devout, practicing Roman Catholics. If there’s anyone that’s destroying Christianity, it’s the fundies.
