A letter that was used for the SCOTUS decision, which makes it part of the constitution.
It’s frightening that the dumbest people in the country are in congress deciding what we’ll teach in schools.

Does Thomas Jefferson know about the intent? Choose carefully. A yes reinforces the letter. A no means founding fathers didn't know and you're lying

1. Most of the Founders were Deists, not Christians.
2. While Jefferson’s letter is the most often quoted, the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli is the first official government document to state it outright.
3. Also this has been the official interpretation of the 1st Amendment for pretty much all of US history.

Boebert, a lot of the Founders were deists or nontrinitarian, and James Monroe may have been an atheist. Do you really think these people with nontraditional religious views would have supported a government controlled from the pulpit? Hell, even George Washington, an Episcopalian and one of the most religious of the Founders, supported freedom of religion and believed that all religions were ultimately beneficial. At a time when anti-Catholic sentiment was mainstream in the Anglosphere, he forbade his troops from burning the Pope in effigy on Guy Fawkes Night. No way would he have supported a full-on theocracy.

Old dominionist fantasy. While governments are not supposed to control churches, they're not supposed to whitewash or provide immunity to criminals hiding behind religion. Government corruption by churches should also ideally not happen. This allows your particular church as well as others to subsist and it may otherwise be suppressed by whatever a supposedly religious dictator would decide to impose. Supposedly, because it's usually an excuse and appeal to illegitimate authority, for manipulation, exploitation and control.

Boebert should read up on what caused the Reformation, beside Martin Luther. States really don't care to be directed by the Church unless it's in their interest.

The Iranian Revolution of 1979 and the 43 years of theocratic tyranny that have followed demonstrate why religion MUST be kept separate from government if democracy is to be preserved.

(Although I imagine Boebert would be all too happy to be declared a Christian Ayatollah.)

I guess I’ll give her a little bit of credit, she actually seems to know of that. But damn, did she actually read the damn thing? Jefferson flat out said that the First Amendment “created a wall of separation between church and state.” (if I’m remembering that line right without looking it up lol) What the hell does she think that means, anyway, if not “what they say it does”? I’m baffled as to that.

Not in America it's not.
