Doctor who has followed the set role of being a male for over 60 years now, however with the reveal of the new female Doctor it is clear the BBC does not respect the story line, the history or tradition of the show, instead they are mindlessly following the uneducated SJW community for attention and publicity. Doctor who has shoved in numerous political points down our throats (uneducated comments on capitalism etc..) which do not belong on a sci-fi TV show, the change brings up numerous questions that simply can not be solved such as the relationship with River Song, Bills sexuality, the companion's gender and much more. It is not sexist to see this is not fitting with the Doctors themes and many loyal facts see this as the final nail in the coffin for the once great TV show, i see this is a disgrace and insulting to mine and everyone else's childhood with numerous people of the only 2 genders agreeing with me.

How? Why doesn't it? If you say tradition then you have to explain if that tradition exists because it works or for tradition's sake, not to mention it implies women can't embody the Doctor's values for no good reason.

I’ve never even watched Dr. Who, yet I know it’s been canon since even before the show’s revival that Time Lords occasionally change sex upon regenerating. You are a *bad* fan.

I was under the impression the Doctor was rather rather iconoclastic and wouldn't give two shits about tradition.🤷

Besides, each reincarnation a Time Lord goes through is it's own separate character, with it's own personality and quirks.

The lowest point of the show ever was surely Sylvester McCoy. Anything that’s happened in recent times (Chris and Billie forwards) doesn’t remotely compare.

Yes. A theme of flouting the rules. Of challenging preconceived notions. Of examining human themes (including politics) through an extra-human perspective (which is a MAJOR function of scifi in general. Fiction can ask ‘Why did you decorate your room with a woodland theme?’ Aliens can ask, ‘Why don’t you just live where trees are?’)

Each regeneration is an almost completely different person. I'd say the making the Doctor female is less of a change from the past than whatever happened between his origin as a grumpy old man and how he was depicted 4 or 5 Doctors in.

Dude, I know next to nothing about the show and even I know that The Doctor becomes a completely new person each regeneration.

I don't like the direction Who took with the latest doctor but the idea of the Doctor reincarnating into a female body is fine. There is no rule saying all this reincarnations have to be male. It does not break any rules. Hell the show mentioned it could haven for a long time.

To be fair, my knowledge of Dr. Who is pretty limited, however… each version of the Doctor is only like 30 percent the same person. Whether or not the Doctor happens to have tits or not is much less important than the bits of personality that do carry over – a fondness for children, a fascination with the human spirit, a general desire to aid the innocent and destroy the tyrannical… and unfortunately both a heaping tablespoon of ego that comes back to bite them in the ass on occasion, and some serious anger issues.

Being a woman changes nothing. I doubt River is so shallow as to care about what physical form the Doctor takes if she ever even encounters Thirteen directly, Bill’s sexuality has nothing to do with the Doctor, and the Doctor can still have a preference for female companions because a) not every companion is interested in the Doctor that way, and b) lesbians exist, especially since you JUST brought up Bill.

I don’t see how the Doctor regenerating into a woman would break anything. Heck, the concept was invented to allow for easily explainable change to the actor, and has always been accompained by a change in how the character was interpreted. As for Rivers sexuality, while her main intrest was in the Doctor there were previous hints to deliances with other women, so the Doctor switiching genders changes nothing in this regard (can’t comment on Bill, since I haven’t watched that far into the show)

I have watched like three episodes of Dr. Who, and I'm pretty sure in one of them he seemed more surprised by the idea of being a red-head than being a woman.
