I’ll believe in white privilege the day I hear a single story of a black student claiming to be white on their college application to help them get in.

So I worked for a university for a while. One of my jobs was to assist faculty in recruiting grad students. This program I worked with was a top-tier neuroscience program. Whenever they came across applications for students of color, they wouldn’t even consider them, regardless of how good they were, because they thought the students wouldn’t want to live in a mostly white area and it would be a waste of time interviewing them and a waste of money to spend on airfare, hotels, etc, bringing them out to see the campus and meet faculty and current students. They never gave these students a chance to even say yes or no, they just rejected them outright. These were some really excellent students applying - even the faculty admitted it, but they never even gave them a chance. And no one in upper administration or among the deans or regents ever said anything. But we did have like 3 years in a row where we only admitted white men.
Go fuck yourself, Chucky
This is obviously a shot at affirmative action to deny systemic racism and increase it. Denying much evidence in many areas of white privilege. This includes discrimination when looking for jobs, when renting appartments, when purchasing real estate and applying for related financing, the treatment by law enforcement and even hospital personel, etc. It even exists at the level of cities, urban design, public transit access, right to clean air and water, etc. And of course, education, one of the reasons programs have attempted to improve the situation. Kirk wants all of that to continue.
You forgot that, from living memory (the last person in the USA to have been inside a slave ship died on 1940 and the last person to have been a slave died on 1972!), Blacks had a lesser status and thus less opportunity.
For exemple, especially in the USA, college courses have huge costs even middle-class families have dificulties meeting. So, someone from a household whose lover income due to discrimination made thel unable to accumulate capital will have issues…
Confused?
