What everyone else here said.
Also; Scotland should ditch the UK and Labour supporters should either work on their messaging, work on “Getting Out The Vote”, work on undoing Brexit or just move to Scotland and start over.
That said, most of Britain still rejects the hardcore Nazi nutsiness and perhaps England will be more like Scotland once all those geezerly pensioners go to The Big Pub & Tea Room In The Sky.
As for Nigel, he still lost, few voted for him and even Boris Johnson (often dubbed the ‘UK Trump’) thinks the Orange Thing is an utter pile of garbage. When Boris thinks the guy he’s often compared to is a terrible person… that says a LOT!
The UK had a setback but I’m sure they’ll survive. Sometimes lessons need to be learned the hard way. Once the effects of Brexit hit then Labour can get some ammo and say “WE TOLD YOU SO!”. If folks on that big island can survive junk like WWII, they can survive this.
Labour needs to improve their messaging. Apparently they lost the way at some point. Also, foster a culture less awash in cynicism and more on hope. That’s one GOOD thing that we Americans have that Europeans have less of… that undying spirit of optimism, hope and a fighting spirit! High morale and a positive spirit works! You need it to have that inner fire of social change!
We in the USA can learn from Europe when it comes to a lot of things but Europe could learn from the USA’s higher penchant for positivity! A spirit of hope and a sense of cautious optimism (but not to the point of mindless, vapid, sugarcoated, unrealistic Pollyannaism) keeps the human spirit alive!
